Mukasey, a former federal prosecutor, has the higher profile of the two. The son of George W. Bush Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Marc Mukasey has previously represented clients including Sidney Gilman, the Alzheimer’s Disease researcher who testified that he provided inside information to former SAC Capital trader Mathew Martoma, and Frank DiPasquale, the former right-hand man to Bernard Madoff. Fox News founder Roger Ailes was also a client, and Mukasey further burnished his reputation among conservatives with his successful murder defense of Eddie Gallagher, a Navy SEAL whose 2019 war-crimes court-martial became a right-wing cause celebre.

That afternoon, Cohen pleaded guilty to eight criminal charges: five counts of tax evasion, one count of making false statements to a financial institution, one count of willfully causing an unlawful corporate contribution, and one count of making an excessive campaign contribution at the request of a candidate (Trump) for the "principal purpose of influencing [the] election".
Trump employed Cohen until May 2018, a year after the special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections began. The investigation led Cohen to plead guilty on August 21, 2018, to eight counts including campaign finance violations, tax fraud, and bank fraud.

Essential Consultants LLC is a Delaware shell company created by Cohen in October 2016 to facilitate payment of hush money to Stormy Daniels. For many months thereafter, Cohen used the LLC for an array of business activities largely unknown to the public, with at least $4.4 million moving through the LLC between Trump's election to the presidency and January 2018. In May 2018, Stormy Daniels' lawyer Michael Avenatti posted a seven-page report to Twitter detailing what he said were financial transactions involving Essential Consultants and Cohen. Avenatti did not reveal the source of his information, which was later largely confirmed by The New York Times and other publications. The data showed that hundreds of thousands of dollars were given to Cohen, via Essential Consultants, from Fortune 500 firms such as Novartis and AT&T, which had business before the Trump administration. It was also revealed that Essential Consultants had received at least $500,000 from a New York-based investment firm called Columbus Nova, which is linked to a Russian oligarch. The firm's largest client is a company controlled by Viktor Vekselberg, a Ukrainian-born Russian oligarch. Vekselberg is a business partner of Soviet-born billionaire and major Republican Party donor, Leonard Blavatnik. A spokesperson for Columbus Nova said that the payment was a consulting fee that had nothing to do with Vekselberg.

On November 29, 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to the Senate Intelligence Committee and House Intelligence Committee in 2017 regarding the proposed Trump Tower Moscow deal that he spearheaded in 2015 and 2016. Cohen had told Congress that the deal ceased in January 2016 when it actually ended in June 2016, and that he had not received a response about the deal from the office of a senior Russian official when he actually had. Cohen said that he had given the false testimony in order to be consistent with Trump's "repeated disavowals of commercial and political ties between himself and Russia" and out of loyalty to Trump. Cohen received a two-month sentence, to be served concurrently with his three-year sentence for tax fraud, for the false testimony.

Manafort resigned from the Trump campaign last August after reports that he had connections to a former Ukrainian president with ties to a pro-Russia political party. On August 10, 2017, after news that the FBI raided Manafort's home in July, a spokesman for Manafort said the former campaign manager was retaining Miller and Chevalier, a firm that had previously represented him. The spokesman also said Manafort had split with the firm WilmerHale. In doing so, Manafort and the latter firm could be seeking to avoid a potential conflict of interest, since Robert Mueller, the Department of Justice special counsel investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and possible coordination with the Trump campaign, worked at the firm.
Jamie Gorelick, chairwoman of the regulatory and government affairs department at the law firm WilmerHale, has represented the Trump son-in-law since before news of the Russia investigation was public. Gorelick served as deputy attorney general under President Bill Clinton and was previously general counsel for the Department of Defense. Given her past affiliation with the Democratic Party, people on the left have criticized her for representing Kushner. She also represents Ivanka Trump, the daughter of the president, who is married to Kushner.
The veep has retained Richard Cullen, chairman of the firm McGuireWoods, The Washington Post 's Ashley Parker first reported on June 15. Cullen has ties to former FBI Director James Comey, who also worked at McGuireWoods, and he is reportedly godfather to Comey's daughter. Cullen was U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and worked on the legal team of President George W. Bush during the 2000 presidential election recount. He has also represented former FIFA President Sepp Blatter, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and former lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who was the focus of a corruption investigation. He specializes in defending clients in Department of Justice investigations, according to his biography.
NBC News also reported on June 16 that Caputo, who was a communications adviser to the Trump campaign and who did work in Russia in the 1990s and for Gazprom Media, a Russian conglomerate, retained Dennis Vacco. The House Intelligence Committee has asked Caputo to testify. Vacco, a partner at Lippes, Mathias, Wexler, Friedman, specializes in governmental investigations. He was New York state attorney general under Clinton and a U.S. attorney for the Western District of New York under Reagan. On Twitter, Vacco has mocked the Russia probe, writing in June about an image of a pigeon near Russian President Vladimir Putin: "I think there should be an investigation of whether this pigeon worked on Trump campaign."

After his departure from the Trump administration, Spicer hired Chris Mead, The Daily Beast reported on September 26. The lawyer was an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Maryland and has represented former Enron executives.
Greenglass testified that he had given the Rosenbergs classified documents from the Manhattan Project that had been stolen by Klaus Fuchs. Greenglass would later claim that he lied at the trial in order "to protect himself and his wife, Ruth, and that he was encouraged by the prosecution to do so." Cohn always took great pride in the Rosenberg verdict and claimed to have played an even greater part than his public role. He said in his autobiography that his own influence had led to both Chief Prosecutor Saypol and Judge Irving Kaufman being appointed to the case. Cohn further said that Kaufman imposed the death penalty based on his personal recommendation. He denied participation in any ex parte ( on behalf of) discussions.

Joshua Lionel Cowen (great-uncle) Roy Marcus Cohn ( / koʊn /; February 20, 1927 – August 2, 1986) was an American lawyer who came to prominence for his role as Senator Joseph McCarthy 's chief counsel during the Army–McCarthy hearings in 1954, when he assisted McCarthy's investigations of suspected communists.
After attending Horace Mann School and the Fieldston School, and completing studies at Columbia College in 1946, Cohn graduated from Columbia Law School at the age of 20.
Born to a Jewish family in the Bronx, New York City, Cohn was the only child of Dora (née Marcus; 1892–1967) and Judge Albert C. Cohn (1885–1959); his father was influential in Democratic Party politics.
In 1984, Cohn was diagnosed with AIDS and attempted to keep his condition secret while receiving experimental drug treatment. He participated in clinical trials of AZT, a drug initially synthesized to treat cancer but later developed as the first anti-HIV agent for AIDS patients. He insisted to his dying day that his disease was liver cancer. He died on August 2, 1986, in Bethesda, Maryland, of complications from AIDS, at the age of 59. At death, the IRS seized almost everything he had. One of the things that the IRS did not seize was a pair of diamond cuff links, given to him by his client and friend, Donald Trump.
Cohn had to wait until May 27, 1948, after his 21st birthday, to be admitted to the bar, and he used his family connections to obtain a position in the office of United States Attorney Irving Saypol in Manhattan the day he was admitted. One of his first cases was the Smith Act trials of Communist Party leaders.
