Luke Cage isn't someone who plays by the rules or the law. He's a vigilante, much like Matt Murdock was as Daredevil in the opening series. The irony with Murdock was he was a lawyer, who spent his off time breaking the law. Cage isn't a lawyer, though he was once a cop. The problem is, unlike Matt, when he breaks the law, everyone knows who he is.
Luke Cage quickly became a role that almost every Black man in Hollywood wanted, and Marvel/Netflix eventually settled on Mike Colter to play the character. Played by Colter, Cage appeared in "Jessica Jones" before starring in his own series.
In an alternate reality depicted in the 2021 " Heroes Reborn " miniseries, Luke Cage became the NYPD's police commissioner and an ally of Nighthawk. A version of Luke Cage resides in the " House of M " reality.
Although at first he appeared stable in his condition, without warning Cage began to have a seizure, but it was quickly established that an injection to stabilize him seemed to be impossible.
Benjamin Donovan (portrayed by Danny Johnson as an adult, Chaundre Hall-Broomfield as a young man) is a lawyer known for representing high-profile criminals such as Stokes, Dillard and Wilson Fisk.
Soon Jessica Jones caught up with Kilgrave and managed to break his neck during their final fight. Hogarth acted as Jones' lawyer and defender her against Samantha Reyes, who argued that Jones had murdered Kilgrave in cold blood.
Milla Donovan is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. She is usually depicted as a supporting character in the comic-book series Daredevil. She was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev and first appeared in Daredevil vol. 2 #41 (2003).

Throughout the third season of Jessica Jones, Trish goes from being a vigilante hero to a self-described villain.
Jeri was an evil, queer character, but she was never an βevil queerβ character. That's because Jeri's queerness is never the source of her evil; wealth is.
Jonathan "Jack" Murdock was a boxer and the father of Matt Murdock. In an attempt to gain the respect of his son, he refused to throw a boxing match and allowed Matt to claim the winnings from his bet. But this action cost Murdock his life as he was murdered by Roscoe Sweeney and his men.
The New Avengers rescue Lopez and she ends up stabbing Elektra to death. However, upon her death it is revealed that "Elektra" is actually a Skrull in disguise; its death indicates that the Skrulls have become undetectable to even the heightened senses of New Avengers members Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Doctor Strange.
In Daredevil: End of Days by Brian Michael Bendis, David W. Mack and Klaus Janson, Ben Urich's investigation into the death of Daredevil revealed he'd had children with many of his love interests. This included a son with Elektra, who'd elected to settle down and lead a simple, civilian life.
After coming into contact with experimental chemicals and spending some time in a coma, Jessica emerged with superhuman abilities. She possesses superhuman strength, as well as flight, and can block mind control.
Jessica boasts super human strength and durability. She has the power of flight, though she's never mastered the ability and rarely uses it.
Unfortunately for Jeri, it's the latter β meaning that she hasn't actually been cured of her ALS. Everyone in Jessica Jones has been dealing with weird stuff so frequently, that Jeri didn't even consider that the person who is claiming to have healing powers may be lying.
Instead, Foggy is with a far more high-profile firm: Hogarth, Chao, and Benowitz, the law firm which has represented and worked with Jessica Jones on her series. Hogarth is Jeri Hogarth, who not only considers herself a friend of Jones but a friend of Danny Rand of Iron Fist, too.
Luke's problem? Cockroach, as in Dontrell "Cockroach" Hamilton. Misty put Cockroach in jail a while back, but due to the events of Season 1 where her partner, Scarfe, was revealed to be crooked, Cockroach's conviction was overturned. He's now out in the streets again, running an illegal casino, and worse, beating his wife and son on the regular after he gets drunk.
The irony with Murdock was he was a lawyer, who spent his off time breaking the law. Cage isn't a lawyer, though he was once a cop. The problem is, unlike Matt, when he breaks the law, everyone knows who he is. This means sometimes they'll come after him with lawsuits. That's when Luke Cage has to turn to his old pal Foggy to figure out how to get out of it. Who is Foggy on Luke Cage? Warning: Spoilers for Luke Cage Season 2 follow.
Donovan's law work outside of the Stokes family had included being hired by Wilson Fisk, in the wake of Fisk's incarceration into Ryker's Island. Donovan and Nicholas Lee worked to not only shorten Fisk's imprisonment, but as per Fisk's requests, returning Vanessa Marianna to Fisk's side.
Due to Mabel's help in gaining his law degree , Donovan then became loyal to the Stokes Crime Family, willing to represent them in the court of law, despite knowing full well that they were a family of criminals who were all guilty of almost every crime which he was legally defending them for.
Donovan then debated with Terence Rogers over what was owed to McIver, as he had denied Rogers' requests to gain fifty percent of the businesses, claiming that the Stokes never owed the McIver family anything. Rogers, however, produced a signed napkin which had been signed by both McIver and Buggy Stokes, seemingly agreeing to split the businesses, which destroyed Donovan's arguments. With their defense falling apart, Mabel responded by mocking Jamaica, which amused Pistol Pete as he laughed while Donovan considered their next move to try and win their case against the McIvers.
But before Stokes and Donovan left, they were confronted by the furious Knight, however , Stokes was unintimidated by her attempts to threaten him and called her dog chasing her sticks. But Knight said that she promised Stokes will be seen in the prison where he belonged in the wake of Scarfe's murder, however this had merely made Stokes laugh loud as he then walked outside with Donovan, who handed Priscilla Ridley the papers he had filled out before Stokes was driven back to Harlem's Paradise to enjoy his freedom thanks to all of Donovan's successful work.
The character has been substantially adapted from the comics into various forms of media. Mike Colter portrayed the character in Marvel's Netflix television series Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Defenders, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe .
Shortly afterward, Luke Cage begins associating with the loose-knit super-team the Defenders, alongside whom he battles the Wrecking Crew and the Sons of the Serpent. Called to assist the Defenders against the Plantman, Cage begins to complain that his participation in their group is interfering with his paying work.
Following his imprisonment on Utopia, he decides, following a conversation with Daredevil, to resign from his Avenger duties to ensure the security of his wife and child. After the X-Men are defeated, Cage, Jessica, Squirrel Girl, and Iron Fist resign from the Avengers. In volume 2 of The Mighty Avengers, Luke Cage wears a costume reminiscent of his yellow Bronze Age outfit, with a yellow top and blue jeans.
Cage, bitten by the hero bug once more, continues to share adventures with Iron Fist and other heroes. Briefly resuming his Power Man identity, he is hired by Moon Knight to join an unnamed team of street-level New York vigilantes, but mere days after he joins, the group dissolves following clashes with the forces of Tombstone and Fu Manchu. Deciding that a return to basics is in order, he re-establishes his Hero for Hire activities and soon learns that, despite his international fame, he is almost forgotten on the streets where he originally made his reputation. He invests his money in a bar and sets about ridding his immediate neighborhood of criminal elements, deciding that the business of world-saving is best left to others.

In the '90s, Quentin Tarantino wanted to make "Luke Cage: Hero for Hire" into a film, with Laurence Fishburne in the title role, but opted to make " Pulp Fiction (1994) " instead.
Luke Cage (Mike Colter) received superpowers when he was experimented on in a private prison. He has super strength and impenetrable skin. He returns to his Harlem neighborhood to fight local crime lord Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali) and other villains. Misty Knight (Simone Missick) is a police detective fighting for justice.
Cage's begins his new life running Luke's. Cage opened a bar in New York City called Luke's, named after himself, where he employed Roy Healy as a bartender alongside him, taking great care of the bar and constantly ensuring it was as clean as possible.
Cage is forced to destroy Luke's for Kilgrave. In an attempt to horrify Jones, Kilgrave then ordered Cage to return to Luke's and blow it up as soon as Jones had arrived. Cage did as instructed; despite desiring to stop, he was unable to break free of Kilgrave's power.
Cage gave Lin some of the money taken from Cottonmouth 's storehouse. She refused, but Cage stated that he wanted to make things right. This touched Lin and she hugged Cage. However, Cottonmouth had discovered Cage's involvement and his location and used a rocket launcher to get rid of him.
Cage told him that he had to as he needs to take down Diamondback before he hurt anybody else. Cage discussed his options with Fish. Knowing that he could not rely on tailing Mariah Dillard, with Shades in jail, Misty Knight being busy at the 29th Precinct Police Station, Cage's only option was to find Turk Barrett and get information out of him, as Fish made sure to lure Barrett out.
He walked next to Genghis Connie's, as he noticed that Connie Lin was less hostile about the rent. Finally, he stopped by Pop's Barber Shop, which had now been turned into a memorial for Pop where the residents of Harlem had been laying flowers and showing their respect to the man. Cage at the memorial and admired a picture of his late friend, repeating Pop's words: move forward, always.
Following Cage's request, Danny Rand had arranged for one of his research facilities to be used as a safe house to protect Cage and his allies. Despite his best attempt to prevent hostility, tensions were high between Misty Knight and Mariah Dillard, as Cage informed them that they will be staying at the facility until the next morning.
Cage had dinner at Genghis Connie's , where he was greeted by Connie Lin, who was amazed at his appetite. Cage saw the coming missile and shielded Lin from the explosion. The blast caused the building to collapse on them both and knocked them out, much to Cottonmouth's pleasure.
Shades is another player from Cage's past who first appeared in " Luke Cage: Hero For Hire " #1. Named after the designer sunglasses he's always wearing, Shades was born and raised in Cage's hometown, Harlem. He joined the deadly street gang, the Rivals, where his gang fights got him arrested and thrown into Seagate with Cage. He quickly broke out of prison, however, and partnered with another ex-con named Comanche to become "Hoodlums for Hire," the criminal counterpart to Cage's heroic operation.
But no matter who was behind the name at any given time, Chemistro is arguably the closest to Luke Cage's arch-nemesis. The first Chemistro made his debut in "Luke Cage, Hero for Hire" #12 (1973) as Curtis Carr, a scientist who created an "alchemy gun" that could transmute materials such as wood into metal.
As an expert marksman (with his left hand, obviously) and a skilled martial artist, Mace has proven to be a powerful and intelligent villain for Cage.
Mace first appeared in "Luke Cage, Hero For Hire" #3 in 1972. During an assault on a village during the Vietnam War, Colonel Gideon Mace lost his right hand. However, since he wasn't supposed to be attacking the village in the first place, he was dishonorably discharged.
But Cottonmouth wasn' t done, and continued to be both a deadly player in New York's criminal underworld and a thorn in Luke's side. Despite looking like an old man, he's proven to be extremely strong and able to hold his own against Cage in hand-to-hand combat.
Clearly, his skill with a blade is... a cut above the rest. A version of Diamondback will be showing up on Netflix's "Luke Cage," played by Erik LaRay Harvey.
