The character was written off because Charles himself decided not to renew his contract after doing some soul-searching about his future. As sad as fans were to see Charles go, it didn't take away from the impact that his portrayal of Will Gardner had on the show.Oct 26, 2020
Cary and Alicia Florrick ultimately formed their own law firm in Season 5, Florrick, Agos and Associates. In Season 7 episode 18 "Unmanned", after having enough with office politics, Cary quits Lockhart, Agos and Lee. We see him again in the season finale working as a guest lecturer at an unnamed college.
Later when she's found out, she's forced to surrender drug dealer Lemond Bishop (Mike Colter) to the state's attorney's office in order to prevent Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) from being prosecuted. In fear for her safety after turning state's evidence on Lemond Bishop, Kalinda disappears.

After they save the firm from bankruptcy, Diane is asked to become a Supreme Court Justice by Peter Florrick, following his election as Governor.
Cary's Arrest In the very first episode of Season 6, Cary was charged for helping Lemond Bishop move $1.3 million of heroin. Of course, he's not actually guilty of this, so Alicia and Kalinda have to get him out of prison, which pretty much runs the course of the entire season.Oct 4, 2015

However, in season 5 their relationship progresses as they have a sexual relationship. It ended after Cary's disagreement with Kalinda seeing other people.
A grand jury has been empanelled, and it appears to be a foregone conclusion that Will Gardner will be indicted for bribing a judge. As Lockhart/Gardner circles the wagons and prepares for the worst, Alicia is brought into the fold and learns how bad things have gotten for the first time.

The executive producers included the Kings, Ridley and Tony Scott, Charles McDougall, and David W. Zucker. The Good Wife is a serialized show featuring several story arcs that play out over multiple episodes, as well as stand-alone storylines that are concluded by the end of each episode.
The Good Wife is an American legal and political drama television series that aired on CBS from September 22, 2009, to May 8, 2016. It focuses on Alicia Florrick, the wife of the Cook County State's Attorney, who returns to her career in law after the events of a public sex and political corruption scandal involving her husband.
The Good Wife has been sold in a complex multi-window deal that involves two streaming partners, Amazon and Hulu; a basic cable network, Hallmark Channel; for $400,000 per episode and broadcast syndication, for a combined license fee of nearly $2 million per episode. "This is an off-network model for a unique serialized show in today's television ecosystem," said Leslie Moonves, President and CEO, CBS Corporation .
In the United Kingdom, Channel 4 began airing The Good Wife on January 25, 2010. The series was later moved to More4 due to a drop in ratings during the first season. The network aired seasons two to six. The seventh season premiered in January 2016.
Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick. The wife of Peter, a disgraced State's Attorney, Alicia returns to work as a junior litigator at the law firm Stern, Lockhart & Gardner thanks to the support of her old law school friend Will Gardner, for whom she has feelings.
It was broadcast on the national network NTV from November to December 2019; it shared the same title as the American original. In Ireland on June 20, 2016, a 4-part drama series called Cheaters was ordered on RTÉ One, starring Irish actress Amy Huberman, which is based on The Good Wife.
Peter Florrick, portrayed by Chris North ( Law & Order, Sex and the City ), begins the series as Cook County State's Attorney. He resigns in disgrace, gets re-elected, rides the wave of public opinion all the way to the Illinois Governor's mansion, and then ends the series the same way he started by resigning in disgrace all over again. Not surprising from a man who can't keep it in his pants.
Diane is the heavy hitter that other lawyers call when they're in trouble, even her co-founder and other name partner Will Gardner. She's also one of the most dynamic characters on the show. Her romance with Kurt McVeigh, a conservative Republican, gives The Good Wife room to explore the clash of political views and the nuance of trying to reach understandings between polar viewpoints.
Diane Lockhart, portrayed by Christine Baranski ( The Big Bang Theory, Mamma Mia! ), is such a formidable character that she got her own spin-off on CBS All Access, The Good Fight. Hardly surprising, since she's one of the firm's founders and name partners.
Equity partner and head of Family Law at Lockhart Gardner, David Lee appears in both the original CBS series and the CBS All Access spinoff The Good Fight. He may not be the most likable man, but, when it comes to handling Alicia's (almost) divorce from Peter, he gets the job done.
But that's what's unique about The Good Wife: it's not a legal drama that's all about the courtroom. Alicia excels outside the courtroom—in depositions and settlements and closed-door meetings—where her ability to empathize with people can really shine.
Charles, who played Will Gardner, left The Good Wife in 2014 after five seasons. He went on to have recurring roles on Inside Amy Schumer, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later. In 2017, the actor played Dr. Jerome Oziel in the TV miniseries Law & Order True Crime.
Christine Baranski. The actress continues to play Diane Lockhart on The Good Wife ’s spinoff, The Good Fight, which premiered on CBS All Access in 2017. Baranski also starred in 2017’s A Bad Moms Christmas, reprised her role as Tanya in 2018’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and had a recurring role on The Big Bang Theory.
Panjabi, who played Kalinda Sharma, didn’t return for the seventh and final season. She joined the cast of NBC’s Blindspot for season 2 in 2016 and recurred during seasons 3 and 5. The actress also had a guest role on HBO’s Run in 2020 and the network’s miniseries I Know This Much Is True.
Panjabi didn’t leave the show on bad terms with everyone, however. Czuchry (Cary Agos) gushed about his former costar during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in January 2021. “She’s one of my best friends,” the Resident star said. “We’ve stayed in touch very closely.

Writing for Vanity Fair, Joanna Robinson writes, "While Alicia took her final bow in an era when the ice zombies on Game of Thrones and the sweaty zombies on The Walking Dead rule pop-culture, Alicia Florrick belongs to the time of Walter White, Don Draper, and the other stars of the golden age of the TV antihero.".
Peter resigns in order to avoid impeachment, but is ultimately convicted of charges of corruption, leading Alicia to believe that she, as well as her children, had become collateral damage in a political feud between Peter and Childs. Upon his resignation, Alicia slaps Peter for victimizing her and their children.
Alicia's storyline focuses on her romantic relationships, including the struggle between staying with or divorcing her unfaithful husband, Peter Florrick, or pursuing other relationships with other men, most notably Will Gardner.
Alicia Cavanaugh was born in 1967 to Veronica Cavanaugh ( Stockard Channing) and an unknown father, from whom Veronica separated from prior to her first appearance in the series in Season 4. She is the older sister of Owen Cavanaugh ( Dallas Roberts ), whom she loves very much, having grown close during their parents' separation, despite his tendency to meddle in her personal life. Her mother, now going by the name of Veronica Loy, makes her first appearance in "A Defense of Marriage" during Season 4, where it is revealed that Alicia had become estranged from her mother due to her various remarriages following her separation from Alicia's father as well as her infidelity. Veronica never afforded Alicia a motherly connection, and her father was never given the opportunity to, leading Alicia to become emotionally withdrawn, a tendency she has demonstrated frequently throughout the series. Ironically, Alicia has engaged in several of the same practices as her mother that she disapproves of, including infidelity, various relationships, and estrangement from her children.
In one instance, Peter threatens to apply sales tax to the Internet and Internet-based companies in a subtle warning to ChumHum (a spoof of Google) that, should they not hire Florrick/Agos as their civil litigator firm, he will hurt their business.
For her performance, Margulies won a Critics' Choice Television Award, a Golden Globe Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Television Critics Association Award .
