The suit alleged that Doug Ford had not done so and instead had reorganized the family businesses to his benefit and used the proceeds from the estate of Doug Sr. — the father of Rob, Randy and Doug — to keep the business afloat, thereby depriving Renata and her children of money by diminishing the value of Rob Ford’s estate.

Charlotte Bennett, a former aide to the governor, has hired Debra S. Katz as representation as the investigation begins into her claim that Cuomo made sexual remarks toward her that she interpreted to be advances, as well as into a claim of inappropriate touching and an unsolicited kiss from another former aide.
New York State Attorney General Letitia James announced Monday afternoon that she received a referral letter from the Cuomo administration, giving her office the authority to move forward with its independent investigation into the allegations of sexual harassment from Bennett and current Manhattan borough president candidate Lindsey Boylan. Cuomo, initially proposing other iterations of an investigation that would’ve limited the power of the state’s attorney general, agreed to give James’ office jurisdiction over the process Sunday night. The governor also issued an apology for comments he acknowledged may have been “misinterpreted” and made others uncomfortable, maintaining that he never inappropriately touched or propositioned anyone. The findings of James’ investigation will be published in a public report.

The judge ordered Ford to pay $290,551.86, which includes $3,817.88 in interest accrued between Feb. 26, 2020 and Jan. 15, 2021. Since Rob Ford’s death in 2016, Renata Ford ran as a candidate in Maxime Bernier’s People’s Party of Canada in the riding of Etobicoke North in the 2019 federal election. She lost.
This, the lawsuit said, “knowingly and deliberately put (Renata, Stephanie and Douglas) in a highly stressful and unfair financial position during their period of grief after Rob Ford’s death, and continued to do so for more than two years after Rob Ford’s death.”.
