Kelly Severide is a fictional character on the NBC drama Chicago Fire. As his shift's lieutenant at Firehouse 51, Severide is the leader of Rescue Squad 3. Severide is portrayed by Taylor Kinney .
He also tells the chief that Casey is "one of the finest firefighters [he's] ever had the opportunity to work with in the entire CFD." Casey is the only person on the show to call Severide by the nickname Sev. Kelly and Leslie Shay are co-workers, best friends, and roommates.
The short answer is no, Severide is not going anywhere. While he has struggled to find his place in the firehouse, especially given his beloved status among co-workers, the character is still central to the show’s ensemble.
Midway through Season 1, Severide is in a relationship with Renée Royce ( Sarah Shahi ), a lawyer whom 51 rescued. She asks him to relocate with her to Spain and he was about to do so, much to the surprise of his friends and co-workers, but ultimately decided to stay in Chicago.

Severide graduated at the top of class at the academy and held the record for the youngest firefighter to make squad when he was 23 years old.
She tells Kelly she's worried for her son's safety and wants Kelly to look after him. He tells her she can drop him off anytime. On the day of the hearing, she drops JJ off with Kelly for a few hours. However, CPD is soon at the firehouse and informs Severide that Detective Holloway was shot outside the court.
Lindsay and Voight suspect that Severide was set up while friendships and relationships are put to the test as the detectives and cops are forced to toe a very thin line with their friends at Firehouse 51 as the evidence against Severide mounts .
Clarke comes to see him the next day and says that the reason for his asking was a cancer patient of his, who is dying and needs this and he thinks Severide could be a match because of something he told him earlier. Severide again, brushes him off and finds it strange.
In the episode " Tonight's The Night " of season 2, Katie is kidnapped and Severide tries to find her in the following episodes. After she is found, she leaves for Colorado. When Katie's kidnapper disappears, Severide becomes a suspect.
However, Severide is right and later on, she asks him for a favour - to look after her son JJ - while she prepares for a court hearing on a dangerous gang she had been detecting for some years.

Renée Royce. Renée Royce is an international finance lawyer and a former girlfriend of firefighter Kelly Severide . Firehouse 51 responded to a car accident in which she was a victim.
She introduces herself as an old friend and Severide introduces Stella as his girlfriend. She apologizes to Severide for her past actions and states that what she did was unforgivable. Renée uses her son, Nicholas, to get too close to Severide again and Stella warns her not to hurt Kelly.
She returns to Chicago to ask for Severide's help on a case she is working on. She tells him that two fellow firefighters were injured in a fire in an oil refinery and eventually convinces him to help her. When Renée goes to meet him at the Station she interrupts Severide and Stella.
Meanwhile, Kidd goes out looking for Severide as he fails to pick her up from work and it seems like he had not been home. It's revealed that he told Renée there was no reason to see each other anymore since the trial was over and that he was at Kidd's all along waiting for her to come home.

Season 1. Renée crashed her Mercedes-Benz and a live electric line burst next to her car with it leaking gas. Severide took charge making sure that is was turned off before he stepped up to escort her out of the Convertible without any injuries.
