Buddy was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Cap and Cola Pope Welch. Buddy was also preceded in death by his son, Hunter. He was passionate about his family, community, work and God. McDONOUGH — Prominent McDonough-based attorney A.J. “Buddy” Welch Jr.'s death has been ruled a suicide. Welch, 73, died in the early morning hours of March 23 when he was hit by a train at the Mt. Pleasant Church Road crossing in Flovilla.
