On February 19, 2014, it was announced that Academy Award -nominated actor Terrence Howard had been in cast in the role of Lucious Lyon, the head of Empire Entertainment, which he is about to take public. Howard had recently appeared in Lee Daniels and Danny Strong 's 2013 film The Butler.
Meanwhile, Lucious is approached by an attorney. Lucious is aware that their meeting is illegal, and tells her so. Roxanne Ford, the new prosecutor, makes an offer for Lucious - if he pleads guilty, he can make a deal where he can turn in some other killers at Empire, and in turn he will be protected in jail.
Lucious is the ruthless CEO and co-founder of Empire Entertainment. He often manipulates to get what he wants. Lucious is very concerned with preserving his image. He is willing to take down just about anyone to maintain that image, even those closest to him. Lucious was recently diagnosed with ALS and he wants to keep his illness a secret.

Mama DuboisTurns out that they weren't, but — plot twist — after Cookie has Angelo kidnapped and beaten by her muscle, Mama Dubois takes baby Bella and plans to make the baby her own because the Lyon family had taken one of hers, or whatever.
But for some reason, Cookie's boyfriend didn't realize this, because Angelo exposes his illegal activity on Empire, and it leads to a Cookie and Angelo break up. I think it's safe to say it's going to be really hard for him to become mayor now.

If Lucious' laywer is as ruthless as Royo makes him out to be, Thristy would probably stop at nothing to get the charges dropped — including making whatever evidence that exists disappears.
Along the same lines, Thirsty could have some witnesses magically appear that will make Lucious look innocent.
Everyone's got a dream — and what if Thirsty's real ambition was music? Perhaps he and Lucious make a deal: Thirsty can defend Lucious in exchange for a record deal or at least some recording time at Empire Entertainment.
On most TV shows, the presence and casting of a lawyer usually means a TV show is headed to court room. Thirsty could be defending Lucious to a jury.
Maybe Thirsty isn't Lucious' lawyer for court or crime — perhaps he's needed so Lucious can better communicate with the Lyon family from jail. It'll be a lot easier for Lucious to help run Empire Entertainment if he has a representative at that board room table. After all, as we saw in the premiere, Jamal's having a hard time juggling it all.
If Thirsty has a shady past, he may still be involved in questionable dealings in the present.

However, Howard said what rubs him the wrong way about Lucious is his "inability to connect with the people that really mean the most to him.".

He hires another doctor who secretly provides him with drugs from the black market, informing him that the drugs could possibly cure his ALS. The drugs only exacerbate his condition and he is rushed to the hospital.
