EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A couple filed a $100 million lawsuit claiming the movie ″Regarding Henry,″ about a man suffering from amnesia, is based on their own life story. The lawsuit on behalf of John and Joan Cox was filed this week in federal court in New York City.
An unscrupulous corporate lawyer, Henry Turner (Harrison Ford) will do whatever it takes to win a case, and treats his family with the same degree of ruthlessness. After Henry gets caught in the middle of a robbery and is shot in the head, he wakes from a coma to find that he has amnesia and can't even remember how to do the simplest of tasks. There is possibly a good movie to be found somewhere within this story, but Mike Nichols has not found it in "Regarding Henry." This is a film of obvious and shallow contrivance, which aims without apology for easy emotional payoffs, and tries to manipulate the audience with plot twists that belong in a sitcom.

Harrison Ford nearly turned down the role of Henry because the character was a trial lawyer. He had just played one in "Presumed Innocent (1990)," and was afraid of being typecast. He took the role when he realized that Henry would only be functioning as a lawyer for the first ten minutes of the film.

Henry, an aggressive defense lawyer, is shot in the head and shoulder during a robbery. He wakes up in the hospital unable to speak, coordinate his movements, and has extensive memory loss. His doctor explains that interrupted blood flow to the brain resulted in generalized brain damage.
Principal photography on the film began in September 2015 in and around New York City, and concluded in November.
