LARRY THEODORE COOK, 79, of Beckley, WV. formerly of Logan, WV and New Bern, NC passed away peacefully on June, 28, 2021 with his family by his side. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday July 10th at 1 p.m., at Cook Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville, WV by Pastor Chuck Cook. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV at 4 p.m., on Saturday July 10th. Larry was born July 16, 1941 in Marianna, WV. the son of George Harley and Dixie Elizabeth Cook. In addition to his parents, Larry is predeceased by his younger sister Darlene Stewart, younger brother Preston Cook and grandson Davis Hudson Cook. While in Logan, Larry worked in Human Resources for Zapata Coal and Sharples Coal Company and later in life at Minges Bottling Company in New Bern, NC where he was the manager of "The Birthplace of Pepsi Store".
Mrs. Amy Davis Sasnett, age 58, a resident of 9206 Slatestone Road, Washington, passed away peacefully July 1st, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Wash ington and other times at the home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 5th, 2021 at the Sasnett Family Cemetery located on Cox Road in Washington. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jimmy Johnson. Pallbearers will be Martin Purvis, Fred Tetterton, Trey Liverman, Cameron Swindell, Todd Dunbar, and Matt Mason.
Christine Stocks Wilson, 89, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2:30 pm in the Winterville Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 pm at Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Christine was a lifelong resident of Pitt County and an active member of Saints Delight Church in Ormondsville. She enjoyed singing at church and loved to cook for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Wilson, and two sons, John Wayne and Willie Lee Stocks. Christine is survived by her son, Mervis “Red” Stocks and wife, Rucky, of Ayden; daughters, Mary Britt, of Jacksonville and Pearlie Carson and husband, Wayne, of Vanceboro; grandchildren, Willie H. Stocks, Dalton Stocks, Christie Stocks, Tammie Stocks, Dale Mills, and Jessie Britt; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Stocks, Noah Mills, Andrew Stocks, Lane Stocks, Logan Stocks, and SaVanna Stocks. Lillie Marie Outlaw, 77, of Washington, NC , passed away on June 24, 2021, in Franklin, TN. Marie was born in Colerain, NC to Joseph and Lillie Outlaw on November 27, 1943. Marie spent most of her adult life in the retail and jewelry industry in Washington, NC. She moved to Franklin TN in 2004 to be closer to her son Stephen and his wife Melissa.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 3:30 PM in Pinewood Memorial Park officiated by her Pastor Rev. Phillip Boykin. Mrs. Rouse was a native of Pitt County, was born November 11, 1936 to James Little, Jr and Lottie Garris Little. She had made her home near Black Jack since 1966 and was employed as a seamstress at Prep Shirt for 24 years. She also worked at the NC License Plate Agency in Greenville until her retirement in 1994. She was an active member of Black Jack Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught the Ladies Sunday School Class for many years. Mrs. Rouse had been an ordained minister for the past 21 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rouse was preceded in death by a son James Earl Rouse in 1975; and brothers, Carrold Little, Irvin Thomas (Sam) Little, James Richard Little. She is survived by her husband, Ned H. Rouse; son, Ned Holden Rouse, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Winterville; grandchildren, Christopher Rouse and wife, Robin and Crystal Rouse; sisters, Doris L. Stokes of Winston-Salem and Joyce L. Green of Chickasaw, Alabama.
