[Epstein] has a licence to carry a concealed weapon, once claimed to have worked for the CIA although he now denies it – and owns properties all over America. Once he arrived at the London home of a British arms dealer bringing a gift – a New York police-issue pump-action riot gun. 'God knows how he got it into the country,' a friend said.
After Epstein’s federal agreement is made public, he’s hit with dozens of civil lawsuits filed by women who say he molested them when they were underage. Upon learning about Epstein’s plea deal with the government, two of his victims file a motion in federal court demanding that the deal be invalidated so that Epstein can receive time in prison.
The immunity agreement and his lenient treatment were the subject of ongoing public dispute. The Palm Beach police chief accused the state of giving him preferential treatment, and the Miami Herald said U.S. Attorney Acosta gave Epstein "the deal of a lifetime".

Jeffrey Epstein’s last words to lawyer before his jailhouse death. Jeffrey Epstein was confident he could fight the child sex trafficking charges against him and was in “great spirits” just hours before his jailhouse death on Saturday morning — even telling one of his lawyers, “I’ll see you Sunday,” The Post has learned.
Epstein, 66, pleaded guilty to two state charges of solicitation of prostitution — one involving a minor — as part of a sweetheart deal in which then-Miami US Attorney Alex Acosta approved a non-prosecution agreement over allegations the financier sexually abused dozens of underage girls at his waterfront mansion in Palm Beach. ...
Acosta was forced to resign as US labor secretary last month over controversy sparked by Epstein’s July 6 arrest on a child sex trafficking indictment obtained by Manhattan US Attorney Geoffrey Berman, who has said he’s not bound by the non-prosecution agreement in Florida.
Epstein’s death followed a July 23 incident in which he was found nearly unconscious on the floor of his cell with marks on his neck and was placed on a suicide watch, law enforcement officials have said.
“Every day he was very positive and the night before he was real positive, ” the source said. “He was in great spirits the night before.”.

A federal lawsuit filed in California in April 2016, against Epstein and Donald Trump by a California woman alleged that the two men sexually assaulted her at a series of parties at Epstein's Manhattan residence in 1994, when she was 13 years old. The suit was dismissed by a federal judge in May 2016 because it did not raise valid claims under federal law. The woman filed another federal suit in New York in June 2016, but it was withdrawn three months later, apparently without being served on the defendants. A third federal suit was filed in New York in September 2016.
On July 23, 2019, three weeks prior to his death, Epstein was found unconscious in his jail cell with injuries to his neck.
Epstein installed concealed cameras in numerous places on his properties to allegedly record sexual activity with underage girls by prominent people for criminal purposes , such as blackmail. Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's close companion, told a friend that Epstein's private island in the Virgin Islands was completely wired for video and the friend believed that Maxwell and Epstein were videotaping everyone on the island as an insurance policy. When police raided his Palm Beach residence in 2006 two hidden pinhole cameras were discovered in his home. It was also reported that Epstein's mansion in New York was wired extensively with a video surveillance system.
According to Michael Corcoran, Trump flew Epstein on his own airplane at least once. In September 2002, Epstein flew Clinton, Kevin Spacey, and Chris Tucker to Africa in this jet. Flight records obtained in 2016 show Bill Clinton flew 27 times to at least a dozen international locations.
He was convicted of only these two crimes as part of a controversial plea deal; federal officials had identified 36 girls, some as young as 14 years old, whom Epstein had allegedly sexually abused. Epstein was arrested again on July 6, 2019, on federal charges for the sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York.
(IAG), which assisted clients in recovering stolen money from fraudulent brokers and lawyers. Epstein described his work at this time as being a high-level bounty hunter. He told friends that he worked sometimes as a consultant for governments and the very wealthy to recover embezzled funds, while at other times he worked for clients who had embezzled funds. Spanish actress and heiress Ana ObregĂłn was one such wealthy client, whom Epstein helped in 1982 to recover her father's millions in lost investments, which had disappeared when Drysdale Government Securities collapsed because of fraud.
Acosta later said he offered a lenient plea deal because he was told that Epstein "belonged to intelligence", was "above his pay grade" and to "leave it alone".
Some of Epstein’s accusers have alleged abuse by others as well. Virginia Roberts Giuffre, for instance, has said she was trafficked by Epstein to Alan Dershowitz, an attorney and Harvard law professor who helped negotiate the deal that kept Epstein out of prison in 2008. Dershowitz has denied the allegation, calling Giuffre a “prostitute” and a “bad mother”; she is suing him for defamation.
Since Epstein was found dead, questions have swirled around how he was able to end his own life. After a possible suicide attempt in July, he had been placed on suicide watch at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center, the jail where he was awaiting trial. But he was taken off suicide watch several days prior to his death, according to the New York Times. And though jail procedures should have dictated that Epstein be placed with a cellmate and checked on by guards every half-hour, those policies were not followed in Epstein’s case, the Times reports.
If convicted, Epstein would have been looking at possible prison or jail time. In civil cases, however, the threshold for proof is more lenient.
The deceased financier’s estate is currently valued at more than $570 million.
As it currently stands, there are a dozen lawsuits that have been filed against the estate in both federal and New York state courts. One has been filed in the US Virgin Islands. It is anticipated that there will be more civil suits being filed in various jurisdictions like New Mexico, Florida and even France.
To determine whether a statute of limitations applies, state prosecutors have to consider the type of crime, when it occurred, who was involved, and what exceptions apply. For instance, the more serious a crime is, the longer the statute of limitations applies.
Whether in life or in death, Jeffrey Epstein remains buried deep in lawsuits. On the one hand, are the state and federal prosecutors trying to figure out how to pursue criminal charges against potential Epstein co-conspirators like Ghislaine Maxwell. On the other hand, are the lawyers representing the alleged victims trying to file civil lawsuits against his estate.
The Mysterious Epstein Will. Court documents filed in the US Virgin Islands reveal that Epstein had a will that he signed only two days before his suicide. According to the document, all of his estate holdings were left to a newly-created entity known as The 1953 Trust.
Feinberg supervised the US government’s compensation fund for the 911 victims along with other high-profile compensation programs. Ideally, the two would have complete autonomy and decision-making authority over all the fund’s affairs without any interference whatsoever from the estate.
After months of back and forth negotiations, his legal team revisits these negotiations and on June 30, Epstein pleads guilty to one count of solicitation of prostitution and one count of solicitation of prostitution with a minor.
After hearing from just one victim, the grand jury indicted Epstein on one count of solicitation of prostitution, but did not include that the victim was a minor in its charges. Alan Dershowitz, who served on O.J. Simpson’s defense team, Kenneth Starr, and Jay Lefkowitz, all represented Epstein.

In March 2005, a woman contacted Florida's Palm Beach Police Department and alleged that her 14-year-old stepdaughter had been taken to Epstein's mansion by an older girl. While there, she was allegedly paid $300 (equivalent to $420 in 2021) to strip and massage Epstein. She had allegedly undressed, but left the encounter wearing her underwear.
