Christine Blasey Ford is a Democrat operative who made false allegations about SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh and admitted it was done to preserve the Roe v. Wade abortion ruling. The false allegations also were intended to deflect allegations by the MeToo movement against major Hollywood donors to the Democrat Party and leftist mainstream media personalities prior to the 2018 Midterm election. Blasey Ford refused to back up her claims under oath when invited by the Republican controlled Senate Judiciary Committee to do so. She later relented and agreed to give sworn testimony while implying senior Republican leaders were not being "fair" in asking her to testify.
During testimony, the Committee learned Blasey Ford's attorneys had withheld from her the fact that Committee staff investiga tors were willing to travel to Cali fornia to obtain sworn testimony and maintain confidential information. By not informing their client, the attorneys forced a public hearing of her allegations against her wishes.
Blasey Ford testified that she contacted the Washington Post only after reporters from several other news organizations had shown up at her home and work. In Blasey Ford's letter to Feinstein of July 30, 2018 she had requested confidentiality. It appears Feinstein and her staff did not respect Ms. Ford's confidence. Feinstein held the letter with allegations for six weeks, never turned it over to the Committee for FBI vetting as the process requires, violated Blasey Ford's trust by pressuring her to go public after the regular hearings were completed and were ready for a Committee vote to send the nomination to the floor for confirmation.
The Washington Post, noted for fake news and an anti-Trump bias, first published Blasey Ford's allegations in a letter under an anonymous op-ed byline. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who recently had been exposed as colluding with Chinese intelligence for twenty years, did not ask the FBI to investigate when she received the letter, held it for two months during hearings, then passed the anonymous slanders along to WaPo. Feinstein indicated she herself did not believe the allegations.

In early July 2018, after Judge Brett Kavanaugh was reported to be on Donald Trump 's shortlist to become an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Ford contacted both The Washington Post and her congresswoman, Anna Eshoo. On July 20, eleven days after Trump nominated Kavanaugh, Eshoo met with Ford, becoming convinced of her credibility and noting that Ford seemed "terrified" that her identity as an accuser might become public. Eshoo and Ford decided to take the matter to Senator Dianne Feinstein, one of Ford's senators in California and the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which would deliberate Kavanaugh's nomination. In a July 30, 2018 letter to Feinstein, Ford alleged that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her when both were in high school in Bethesda, Maryland, and stated that she expected her story to be kept confidential. In August that year, Ford took a polygraph test with a former FBI agent who concluded Ford was being truthful when attesting to the accuracy of her allegations.
In their 2019 book The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation, authors Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly interviewed Leland Keyser, a close friend of Ford's from high school, who, according to Ford, was at the party where the alleged assault took place (although not in the same room).
The Wing, a co-working network and club for women, named the conference room in its San Francisco headquarters after Ford. In November 2018, a GoFundMe started by Georgetown Law professor Heidi Li Feldman raised $30,000 towards endowing a professorship or scholarship in Ford's name. That same year, Time magazine included Ford on its shortlist for Person of the Year. On December 11, 2018, Ford presented the Sports Illustrated "Inspiration of the Year" award to Rachael Denhollander. In 2019, she was named one of that year's 100 most influential people in Time 100, having been nominated by Senator Kamala Harris.
