In "The Honeymoon," S.H.I.E.L.D. ally Brigadier General Glenn Talbot was revealed to be brainwashed by Hydra, in much the same way as the Winter Solider and Season 2's Agent 33. Daisy "Quake" Johnson unintentionally delivered Talbot right into Hydra's hands by creating a means for him to contact his family.
As he destructively mines gravitonium in Chicago, Talbot is killed by Johnson, who uses her powers to push him into outer space.

In the third season opener, Gabrielle and Carlos decide to divorce but it is complicated, due to the baby that their surrogate, Xiao-Mei, is expecting. Gabrielle and Carlos deal with keeping the murder of her stepfather quiet, Carlos unable to be intimate due to his guilt. Gabrielle challenges the antagonistic PTA head at Juanita's school after a parking dispute only to accidentally hit the woman with her car. The woman gets revenge by making Gabrielle her replacement, warning her that being PTA head will drive Gabrielle crazy. The first meeting does not go well as Gabrielle is late due to a spa appointment and the other members berate her over putting her high-living lifestyle over her responsibilities. Assuming they're jealous, Gabrielle gives them massages and makeovers but they still refuse to help. They snap that Gabrielle has no idea how people like them live and her life is so perfect. However, when a drunken Carlos comes in, the PTA members realize that Gabrielle faces many struggles as well and she really isn't that different from them after all. They take over the luncheon project and allow Gabrielle to help her husband. When Carlos gets drunk before work, Gabrielle attempts to cover for him but his boss figures it out. Rather than be upset, the man tells Carlos he understands, being a recovering alcoholic himself, and urges Carlos to get help. Carlos checks himself into a rehab center but vanishes the same night detective Chuck Vance is killed, making Gabrielle worry Carlos might have done it while drunk. When a guilty Susan checks in on Alejandro's family, his suspicious widow, Claudia, follows her, believing Susan is having an affair with her husband. Gabrielle is upset with Susan until she hears Susan's suspicion that Claudia's daughter, Marisa, was also molested. Gabrielle invites Claudia over, telling her the truth about Alejandro. Claudia refuses to believe it until Marisa finally confesses what the man did to her, Claudia distraught to have had her daughter hurt like that. She later comes to Gabrielle, thanking her for letting her see the truth. She spots the rug stained with Alejandro's blood that Gabrielle was having replaced and tells Gabrielle to get rid of it, clearly knowing what happened to Alejandro and willing to keep it quiet.

As the series begins, Lynette is near to breaking point - she has been stuck at home alone with four kids for 6 years. Her husband is always away on business trips or at work. Lynette struggled to cope with her four children until Preston and Porter were prescribed medication for ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder). Lynette decided not to medicate them and started taking the medication herself so she could have more energy in order to make the costumes for a school play. Realising she was addicted, Lynette managed to stop taking the pills after she and Tom hired a nanny. Unfortunately the nanny didn't stay long as she caught Tom's eye a little too much. Her problems got worse when Tom told her that he was offered a lucrative promotion that would take him away from home more often, which he refused to discuss with her, so she made sure that his boss didn't offer him the promotion. When Tom found out what Lynette had done, he quit his job, and in the season finale informs her that she will be going back to work. Lynette also has trouble with Tom's ex-girlfriend, Annabel Foster. So, she talks to an executive of her old firm, and Tom's firm, to hire his ex as the VP of the firm, which she willingly does. When Tom finds out what Lynette had done, he forgives her, and decides to become a stay-at-home dad, and so she has to go back to work, and earn the money.
Susan said that while she always wanted Karl to feel what he had done to her, it was not a great feeling and she was sorry that it happened to him. Bree later hires Karl as her divorce lawyer. When Bree 's husband, Orson Hodge, blackmails her into staying in the marriage, Karl and Bree begin an affair.
Karl poses with his ex-wife Susan and his daughter Julie while having a picnic in a park. Karl and Susan Mayer divorced a year prior to the events of the series as a result of Karl's affair with his secretary, Brandi.
Karl reappears in the second episode of the fifth season, where he was asked by Julie to pick up and help her with her insurance. He tells Susan he has been talking to her new love, painter Jackson Braddock, and teases her that she has now had a plumber and a painter and if he was a roofer they might still be together and Susan asks him to leave. Karl reappears yet again in the eighteenth episode of the fifth season, " A Spark. To Pierce the Dark. ". Karl has enrolled his son Evan in Susan's art class, Susan gave the class an art assignment to draw what makes them happy and Evan drew his Mom being pierced with a sword. Susan felt concerned by this and called Karl to talk to him about his picture and Karl had confessed to Susan that Marissa had left them 6 weeks prior because she could not handle being a mother, and now Karl is caring for Evan by himself. Karl comments that he finally understands why it bothers Susan to see him and that he was truly sorry. Susan said that while she always wanted Karl to feel what he had done to her, it was not a great feeling and she was sorry that it happened to him.
Karl dies in Season 6 , Episode 11 after injuries sustained when a plane crashes into Wisteria Lane during the Christmas Festival.
In the season one episode " Move On ", Karl ends his relationship with Brandi and asks Susan for a second chance, but she declines because of her commitment to Mike. Susan also discovers that he flirted with Edie while they were married, and soon Karl starts dating Edie.
Karl appears only in the episode " Children and Art " to play the bad cop for Julie and Austin McCann. This backfires when he gets mad at Susan for dating Ian Hainsworth, a married English man whose wife is in a coma.
Susan however brings Mike along to the next class and makes herself and him dress up in order to impress Karl, where they both lie and say they have a party to go to after and that Mike now owns his company however Susan becomes disappointed when Mike mentions he was in rehab.

It is implied that Juanita Solis murdered Carlos's father to protect Carlos and herself from his domestic violence. Carlos entered college on a golf scholarship. While living in New York at a fashion show, he would meet his future wife to whom he would propose to on their third date.
That night, Carlos is looking at the grass and can tell John hasn't mowed it. Gaby tells Carlos not to worry about it. At the party, Gaby makes sure Carlos has a drink all night long so she can go home and mow the lawn.

Carlos home home at midnight one night which upsets Gaby because she had to eat alone. To make it up to Gaby, Carlos gives her a white gold necklace. Carlos tells Gaby he wants to make love to her but Gaby wants to talk.
Gabrielle had a miscarriage, and after the loss of the baby, Carlos managed to get early parole by seeking aid from a program for Catholic inmates. Through the program, Carlos made the acquaintance of a nun, Sister Mary Bernard, who has inspired him to live a more religious life. Gabrielle was jealous because Sister Mary is "a knockout", by Gabrielle's admission, and also because she was turning Carlos against Gabrielle. Following her miscarriage, she told Carlos that she did want children but she wanted Carlos to want her for her, not just because she was capable of having children.
