12. Kim Greylek (Michaela McManus) — Season 10. The fourth ADA to team up with SVU after Carmichael, Cabot, and Novac, Kim Greyleck was nicknamed “The Crusader” at her previous job with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women.
Credit: NBC. Jo Marlowe, Elliot Stabler’s former partner, didn’t have long as the ADA, but her presence in the courtroom is unforgettable. She struggled with cancer — and her lover left as a result — but managed to persevere when hired temporarily by Jack McCoy.
Casey was always going to have big shoes to fill, taking up the mantle of ADA in the wake of Cabot's supposed death — she actually went into the Witness Protection Program. Casey was a tenacious ADA, relentless in her quest for justice, causing her to regularly clash with SVU until she learned how to be a team player.
After becoming the longest serving ADA on the series, Barba resigned amid his controversial decision to pull the plug on a braindead child.
When people wanted Stabler back they wanted him back on Svu full time with Benson.
I usually don't share my art here (i'm more of a lurker) but I've had this saved in my drafts for a while and since it seems to be such an active community, I thought I'd give it a go. Trying my hand at these two favs, whom I'm so happy we get to see together again.
That was one of the most intense season finales! Like they were just killing people left and right. O’Hallagan was so cute!! They always kill the cute ones! And the gilmore girls mom got gassed!
I just finished watching all 22 seasons of SVU and 1 of OC. I have 2 observations:
Christopher Meloni played the other SVU lead detective, Elliot Stabler, until departing from the series in 2011 after 12 seasons. Meloni returned to star as Stabler in 2021 in the spin-off series Law & Order: Organized Crime.
The first spinoff of Law & Order, it stars Mariska Hargitay as onetime lead detective and later Captain Olivia Benson, the commanding officer of the Special Victims Unit in a fictionalized version of the New York City Police Department.
Meloni left SVU in 2011. The series order consists of 13 episodes. On June 2, 2020, it was announced that the series would be called Law & Order: Organized Crime and writer Craig Gore had been fired. When NBC announced its fall schedule on June 16, Organized Crime was the only new show on the schedule, slotted for Thursdays at 10/9c. However, the series was later delayed to 2021. On October 2, 2020, it was announced that Matt Olmstead would be stepping down as showrunner and a replacement was not announced at the time. On December 9, 2020, it was announced that Ilene Chaiken has joined as showrunner after her overall deal with Universal Television. Dylan McDermott was announced on January 27, 2021, as joining the cast in an unspecified role. On February 2, 2021, Tamara Taylor was cast in an undisclosed role. On February 4, 2021, it was announced that the series would premiere on April 1, 2021, in a two-hour crossover event.
The crime inspired Dick Wolf to write the story for the season one episode of Law & Order titled " Kiss the Girls and Make Them Die ". Even after writing the episode, however, the case continued to haunt Wolf, who wanted to go deeper into the psychology of crimes to examine the role of human sexuality.
The 22nd season premiered on November 12, 2020. The series has received 91 award nominations, winning 33 awards. Mariska Hargitay was the first regular cast member on any Law & Order series to win an Emmy Award when she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2006.
Ilana Kaplan of The New York Times wrote that the series the longest-running drama in primetime history and Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson is a person of repose of real life victims and survivors. Hargitay quoted: “It became very apparent to me early how much, culturally, we needed this character who relentlessly fights and advocates for women and for survivors, and who does it with compassion,” she said through tears. “Somebody who is unequivocally committed to righting wrongs, who believes survivors, who’s aware of the healing in it.”
Tamara Tunie was cast as medical examiner Melinda Warner in season two after working with Wolf previously on New York Undercover, Feds, and Law & Order. Warner was initially a recurring character but became a regular character in season seven, and Tunie was added to the opening credits at that time.
Brad Garrett. After his Everybody Loves Raymond years, Garrett took on a cop role once more during season 17 of SVU. This portrayal wasn't a laughing matter, however—over two episodes he played Gary Munson, a crooked corrections officer who had been abusing female inmates.
Before Cooper became a mega-watt Hollywood director, one of his first notable roles was playing Jason Whitaker in the season six SVU episode, "Night.". Whitaker was a seemingly charming lawyer dealing with a client accused of raping illegal immigrants.
Hyland is one of a handful of stars who appeared on Law & Order not once, but twice. She first starred in season three, playing a child victim in the episode, "Repression," then returned in season 10 to play a less innocent role.
Questlove. After telling Us Weekly that his fantasy was to "play a dead body" on Law & Order, Questlove's dream became a reality. During season 16 , he had a particularly cold cameo, appearing on the coroner's table with a bullet wound to the head—you could say it was a drop-dead performance. Getty Images.
7 of 45. Carol Burnett. Even some of Hollywood's greatest legends have added SVU cameos to their resumes. In season 10, Burnett played Birdie Sulloway; a serial killer who married and murdered several men who she deemed unworthy to remain in this world.
James Van Der Beek. Van Der Beek takes a 180-degree turn from sweet Dawson Leery to creepy Sean Albert in season 13's episode, "Father Dearest.". He's unsettlingly convincing as Albert, a man who takes advantage of teen girls searching for their biological fathers online.
Patricia Arquette. In the season 14 episode "Dreams Deferred," Arquette took on the role of prostitute, Jeannie. When she's kidnapped by an armed and dangerous suitor, the entire SVU squad has to drop everything in an attempt to save her life. NBC.
