Encouraged by Chandler's attorney/oilman friend Warren Lloyd, they moved to Los Angeles in 1913, where he strung tennis rackets, picked fruit and endured a time of scrimping and saving. He found steady employment with the Los Angeles Creamery.

On August 16, June Chandlerâs attorney, Michael Freeman filed a motion for a court order to have Jordan returned to June. Barry Rothman advised Evan that he did not have any chance of winning, unless he accused Jackson of molesting Jordan. In Ray Chandlerâs book we read:
Between July 11 and August 16, 1993 Evan Chandler did not only work on making his son âconfessâ that he had allegedly been sexually abused by Michael Jackson, but he also used those allegations to try to extort money out of Jackson. Although he was very sensitive to the word âextortionâ â in Ray Chandlerâs book they prefer to use the word ânegotiationsâ instead. Whatever you call it, this is how it went.
On January 25 an out of court settlement was reached in the civil case between Jackson and the Chandlers in which Jackson paid the Chandlers $15.3 million. The document, signed by both Jackson and the Chandlers, emphasized that it was in no way an admission of guilt on Jacksonâs part.
Michael Jackson met Jordan Chandler in May 1992, after the starâs car broke down while he was driving on Wilshire Boulvard, Los Angeles and he went to a nearby car-rental agency that was owned by the boyâs step-father, David Schwartz. Schwartz called his wife, June Chandler to tell her of the illustrious client and to ask to bring her 12-year-old son, Jordan (born January 11, 1980) who was a big fan of the entertainer. Schwartz offered Jackson a deal: he would rent him a car for free if Jackson would agree to take Jordanâs phone number and call him. Jackson accepted the deal, kept his promise and called the boy a couple of days later. From then on a friendship developed between the star and the family on the phone. According to the Chandlersâ recollections between May 1992 and January 1993 they talked to Jackson on the phone about 8-10 times, so approximately once a month.
On December 20 Jackson was subjected to a humiliating strip search in which his genitalia and buttocks were photographed and videofilmed. Authorities wanted to compare the photos with the descriptions his accuser, Jordan Chandler gave to them. This humiliating process is rare even in child abuse cases and, as you will see it, it is questionable whether it had any probative value at all, ie. any good reason even existed for this strip search, or the prosecution just tried to humiliate Jackson.
In interviews Ray Chandler said the Chandlers at one point eventually agreed to take Michael Jackson to trial after pressure from Santa Barbara Police. Despite Jordanâs mental health there was another concern that Michael Jackson was molesting other children or could molest more children if they didnât do anything.
The Father Evan Chandler was caught on tape revealing it was an extortion for money. (ÂŤI will get everything I want and they will be destroyed foreverÂť) There exist audio âsecretâ recordings of Evan Chandler where he seems very furious and talks about Michael Jackson, Jordan, mother June and the allegations.
Thereâs a well established rumor that Jordan Chandler came out after Michael Jackson died in 2009, and ÂŤadmittedâ the 1993 allegations against Jackson were all lies , and something he was put up to by his father or family. The reason was âbecause they were poorâ, although thereâs different variations of this story.
Evan Chandler killed himself by guilt after MJ died (because he falsely accused MJ of molesting his son and couldnât live with himself). Another myth that youâll often see is the one that Evan Chandler killed himself out of guilt for extorting Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson died.
In 1993 an occurrence would happen that would shock the world about the legendary music icon Michael Jackson. A 13 year old boy named Jordan Chandler who accused Michael Jackson of sexually abusing him. There was a police raid at Neverland and Michael seemed to be in trouble. People expected a big trial, but it didnât happen.
Evan was worried about the well being of his son as he suspected Michael Jackson was possibly sexually molesting him and that the relationship was harmful for Jordy. Evan had tried desperately to get them all to meet, sit down and have a conversation, but nobody cooperated with Evan, which made him very angry.
His main argument is that relationships between older men and underage boys while forbidden is just misunderstood and should be deemed as fine. His book paints the story between Jordan and Michael Jackson almost like a âforbidden love storyâ and his âevilâ parents who does not allow it.

âEven if there was no sex, Jordieâs personality had been seriously altered. As he morphed day by day into a pint-sized clone of Michael, he withdrew further and further from his family and friends.â [8; page 49]
In her 2004 book, Redemption, Geraldine Hughes, a legal secretary of lawyer Barry K. Rothman who first represented the Chandlers during the 1993 allegations, speaks about a lawsuit David Schwartz filed against Evan Chandler and states:
According to Michael Freeman, who was June Chandlerâs attorney while the allegations were being formulated, Evan also promised a laptop computer to his son that he never bought [1]. And June Chandler herself in August, 1993 sued Evan for $68,000 in back child support payments though later she retracted this claim [1] [4].
In her 1994 article for GQ Magazine Mary A. Fischer quotes an unnamed family friend who claimed: âOne of the reasons June left Evan was because of his temper â [1].
According to journalist Diane Dimond (whom Ray Chandlerâs book, All That Glitters describes as Evan Chandlerâs âclosest allyâ in the media [2; page 194]) Evan also suffered from bipolar disorder. In his Will Evan ordered that none of his family members be advised of his death until well after his funeral.
On July 24, 2005 Evan Chandler filed a lawsuit against Jordan which had to do with Jordanâs trust fund. The case was dismissed in 2007.
Allegedly, after Jacksonâs hair caught fire while shooting a Pepsi commercial in 1984, Jordan and his mother sent him a âget wellâ letter for which Jackson called to thank them and he also invited them to an audition with a chance for Jordan to appear in an advertisement with Jackson.
From this marriage he had a half-sister. His father, Evan Chandler (born Evan Robert Charmatz) also had a second family, a wife and another son and a daughter from that marriage.
Bosch suspected it was a ploy by Chandler to garner sympathy from the jury and to demonstrate that justice means bad behavior is punished. On the day that the jury's ruling was announced, Chandler did not appear in court.
In the second season Chandler is hired by Veronica Allen to defend her against charges that she murdered Father Tabakian. Despite Allen's guilt, Chandler is able to secure her acquittal with a self-defence strategy. The case again places Chandler in opposition to Bosch, who arrested Allen for the crime.
Chandler offered money to Jerry Edgar for inside information on the Concrete Blonde case so she could use it in the trial in an attempt to show that Church was innocent of all the Dollmaker killings. Edgar accepted and fed inside information to her.
She was found by Detective Jerry Edgar, tortured and murdered in her home, a victim of the Dollmaker copycat killer. In searching her home, Bosch found the note and envelope from the Follower. The postmark date led Bosch to the killer.
Chandler, whose first name was initially changed to Sunny, is played by Amy Price-Francis in the original pilot of the streaming series Bosch . The character was then renamed Honey as in the book and played by Mimi Rogers in the reworked pilot and from the first season onwards.
However, this note was mailed, unlike the others. Like Bosch, Chandler was a smoker. During the trial they would sometimes find themselves at the same smoker's spot outside the courthouse. They had some revealing conversations during these brief encounters.
My analysis of the 1994 Settlement underscores the point that if Jackson willingly paid millions of dollars to Jordie Chandler over claims of sexual abuse, a reasonable person could conclude he was guilty of said crimes. The above entry homes in on this conclusion by using the actual Settlement Agreement documents and statements made by the parties involved.
Because Jackson was an adult, it was Jacksonâs duty to Jordie Chandler not to behave in any way (the suit specifies âoffensive contactsâ that were âexplicitly sexual and otherwiseâ) that could have brought harm to Jordie. Jacksonâs negligent âoffensive contactsâ that were of an âexplicitly sexualâ nature caused Jordie harm.
The duty Jackson had to Jordie was expectedly incurred due to the fact Jordie was a minor and, as a minor (and , additionally, as a âspecial friendâ), Jordie had a blind, child-like faith and trust in Jackson, who was an adult, regardless of his own self-proclamations of being Peter Pan.
Even a year following the settlement, Larry Feldman stated Jordie Chandler was having a hard time adjusting. The childâs suffering notwithstanding, undoubtedly a settlement was in the best interest of Michael Jackson, too.
[ Desireeâs note: In addition to what Iâd previously mentioned, the Prosecutionâs argument for introduction of the amounts of Jacksonâs settlement with Jordie Chandler was pure common sense.
Jason was approximately eight-years-old at the time, and the second incident was said to have been the duration of âtwo cartoonsâ â at least five to ten minutes worth of Jacksonâs hand down between the boyâs legs. Jason stated that after each of the fondling incidents Jackson gave him $100 bills.
However, roughly two months ago, Jackson defense attorney Tom Mesereau gave a Blogtalkradio interview with Jackson sympathizer King Jordan, in which he clarified the Settlement Agreement. The pertinent portion begins at 1:04:45 and a transcription of Mesereauâs exchange with a caller says the following: CALLER: Hi.
Chandler. Raymond Thornton Chandler (July 23, 1888 â March 26, 1959) was an American-British novelist and screenwriter. In 1932, at the age of forty-four, Chandler became a detective fiction writer after losing his job as an oil company executive during the Great Depression.
Critics and writers, including W. H. Auden, Evelyn Waugh and Ian Fleming, greatly admired Chandler's prose. In a radio discussion with Chandler, Fleming said that Chandler offered "some of the finest dialogue written in any prose today". Contemporary mystery writer Paul Levine has described Chandler's style as the "literary equivalent of a quick punch to the gut." Chandler's swift-moving, hardboiled style was inspired mostly by Dashiell Hammett, but his sharp and lyrical similes are original: "The muzzle of the Luger looked like the mouth of the Second Street tunnel"; "He had a heart as big as one of Mae West's hips"; "Dead men are heavier than broken hearts"; "I went back to the seasteps and moved down them as cautiously as a cat on a wet floor." Chandler's writing redefined the private eye fiction genre, led to the coining of the adjective "Chandleresque", and inevitably became the subject of parody and pastiche. Yet the detective Philip Marlowe is not a stereotypical tough guy, but a complex, sometimes sentimental man with few friends, who attended university, who speaks some Spanish and sometimes admires Mexicans, and who is a student of chess and classical music. He is a man who refuses a prospective client's fee for a job he considers unethical.
In his introduction to Trouble Is My Business (1950), a collection of many of his short stories, Chandler provided insight on the formula for the detective story and how the pulp magazines differed from previous detective stories:
Chris winks and says:"Raymond Chandler!". In season 4, episode 18 of the sitcom Friends, during a debate over whether or not to name one of Phoebe's triplets "Chandler" or "Joey," Joey challenges Chandler to "name one famous person named Chandler.".
Chandler was classically educated at Dulwich College, London (a public school whose alumni include the authors P. G. Wodehouse and C. S. Forester ). He spent some of his childhood summers in Waterford with his mother's family.
Chandler was born in 1888 in Chicago, the son of Florence Dart (Thornton) and Maurice Benjamin Chandler. He spent his early years in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, living with his mother and father near his cousins and his aunt (his mother's sister) and uncle.
His first novel, The Big Sleep, was published in 1939.
