Teresa forced Camila, who’s played by actress Veronica Falcón, into exile after she discovered that the drug dealer was plotting to kill her. Though she easily could have taken out her former mentor, Teresa decided to let her live, but warned Camila that if she ever made a move against her, Camila’s daughter, Isabela, would be her next target.
It’s unclear whether Veronica chose to leave the series on her own or if the writers decided to keep her out of Season 4, but either way, Camila’s exile would allow the 53-year-old to return to the show.
Colonel Cortez is a complex character on Queen of the South. He straddles the fence of a hired gun and boss. He makes decisions based on his metals expertise but also through his intellectual. He's good at reading people and understanding how to get what he wants from those people.
Kelly Ann is much smarter than she gets credit for. She comes across as a space cadet but remember that Kelly Anne was on the fast track to becoming a lawyer before she married one. She plays her role well but even her betrayal of Teresa was a calculated move she was willing to take.
Despite his ruthless behavior and emotional thinking, Boaz is very intelligent. He not only made himself a boss with hard work and dedication but also with his brain. Running the Mexican Cartel is not an easy task with people gunning for your spot almost daily, but Boaz has survived all attacks. That says plenty about his intelligence.
Others, such as Boaz and Cortez, are steady plotting. Intelligence can be a good thing but when used for evil, it can be deadly.
Ximena Duque is officially making her Hollywood debut on Queen of the South. The Colombian beauty, who is known for Telenovelas such as Dueña del Paraiso and Santa Diabla, will guest appear as Eva, Epifanio’s smart and ambitious young assistant, on the USA Network’s drama-thriller series.

Queen of the South actor Consuelos is married to the 50-year-old actress and TV host Kelly Ripa.
Boaz ruled the Sinaloa Cartel with an iron fist. He's a lover of fine women, alcohol, money, and power. Will he take those same measures in America? With Pote and Teresa keeping an eye on him, his actions will make Season 5 a lot more interesting going forward.
King George was a strange character in the early going but he turned into a trusted member of Teresa's organization as the series grew. He lost his friend Bilal and maybe that was the turning point for him.
Cortez was never one to be confused as one of the good guys. To say that he was loyal to either Epifanio and Camila would be foolish. In a sense, he's much like Boaz. He wants power and doesn't care who he has to betray or kill to get it. However, Boaz does have a sense of loyalty whereas Cortez is strictly out for himself. His death was well deserved as he's escaped that fate a few times. It was bound to catch up to him sooner or later.
Teresa did nothing wrong to Epifanio but she quickly learned that the drug game has no room for excuses. Epifanio wanted his book and was willing to kill an innocent woman to get what was his. Epifanio wanted it all. The perfect marriage, family, to be the top cartel boss and then he turned his attention to politics. Even when his wife left and he was forced to raise their daughter alone, Epifanio still had a soft spot for Camila.
Despite the efforts of Epifanio, Camila was Teresa's first real enemy. Their classic showdowns have been good for the show and Camila's thirst for revenge makes that storyline better than anything we had last season. Camila can be as heartless as any male and her one lone weak spot is her daughter Isabela who at times, even Camila has to show tough love to.
There was no way Kelly Anne was supposed to be a major character on Queen of the South. She was given the role of the ditzy wife but as we've learned, there is way more to her than that. In all fairness, it appears she was born to be a part of Teresa's team. Now, she and Teresa have had their ups and downs. It even got to the point where Teresa ordered the hit on Kelly's life.
