The US Justice Department has released a transcript of a phone call from Donald Trump’s attorney John Dowd to Rob Kelner, Michael Flynn ‘s lawyer, in which Mr Dowd sought information about Flynn’s discussions with special counsel Robert Mueller.
Robert Mueller is the special counsel overseeing the investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 election, and potential obstruction of justice by the president. Mr Mueller has a pristine reputation in Washington, where he was previously in charge of the FBI. Throughout his investigation, he and his team have been notoriously tight lipped about what they know and where their investigation has led.
President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, John Dowd, told CNN on Sunday that he wrote a tweet for the @realDonaldTrump Twitter account about the firing of former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn.

The attorney, Sidney Powell, said she recently briefed the president on the case and asked him not to issue a pardon.
The import of the judge’s view of sentencing as being in progress wasn’t entirely clear, but it suggested that he viewed as extraordinary the government’s decision to abandon the case.
Powell’s volleys with Sullivan were the first verbal exchanges between the judge and Flynn’s defense team since a status conference held in his courtroom more than a year ago and a closed-door meeting with Flynn’s attorneys a few days before that.
