Rogue Lawyer is a novel by John Grisham. It was released in hardcover, large print paperback, e-book, compact disc audiobook and downloadable audiobook on October 20, 2015. It is a legal thriller about unconventional street lawyer Sebastian Rudd.
Upon graduating from law school, Grisham started practicing law, with a focus on criminal defense and personal injury litigation. He was elected to the Mississippi state House of Representatives in 1983, where he served until 1990. Inspired by cases and testimony, Grisham began writing for fun in the wee hours of the morning before going to work.

Rogue Lawyer is like side 2 of Abbey Road. However, it does NOT work. I truly believe that Mr. Grisham was rummaging through his file cabinet one lazy afternoon, came across notes he’d jotted down over the years about potential stories bit never got around to writing.

The towns and city referred to in the novel are vague and nameless in many cases but the booktrail covers Milo in Iowa and De Soto as there is a Milo in the book and the courthouse in De Soto was where Grisham himself worked as a lawyer although not a street one.
The book is written in six parts, rather than chapters. Each part is numbered with about 20 (+/-) scenes. At first glance, it seems that there is no one storyline in Rogue Lawyer, but rather a collection of short stories that talk about Sebastian's cases and what he has to deal with to get justice for his clients.

We’d love your help. Let us know what’s wrong with this preview of Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham.
John Grisham mixes the exciting pace of a thriller with fascinating legal elements, and the results are brilliant. Rogue Lawyer ’s protagonist, Sebastian Rudd, is an absolute whirlwind—smart, gritty, tough—and an easy character to root for.
Sebastian defends people other lawyers won’t go near: a drug-addled, tattooed kid rumored to be in a satanic cult, who is accused of molesting and murdering two little girls; a vicious crime lord on death row; a homeowner arrested for shooting at a SWAT team that mistakenly invaded his house. Why these clients? Because he believes everyone is entitled to a fair trial, even if he, Sebastian, has to cheat to secure one. He hates injustice, doesn’t like insurance companies, banks, or big corporations; he distrusts all levels of government and laughs at the justice system’s notions of ethical behavior.
John Grisham is an excellent novelist and also really adept at bringing legal shortcomings to light. This book is not worthy of him. It was a real disappointment from one of my favorite authors.
Because of his reputation, I kept reading, hoping for something interesting, but after finally finishing Gray Mountain, my first thought was, "Well, that was a little boring." and Rogue Lawyer is a little like a short story book. I have read every other John Grisham book several times, because they're that good. (less)
Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer. He works out of a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, fine leather chairs, a hidden gun compartment, and a heavily armed driver. He has no firm, no partners, no associates, and only one employee, his driver, who’s also his bodyguard, law clerk, con

John Grisham says THE TUMOR is the most important book he has ever written. In this short book, he provides readers with a fictional account of how a real, new medical technology could revolutionize the future of medicine by curing with sound.
Grisham kicks off the evening with a heartfelt reading of an excerpt from his blockbuster bestseller The Summons. He's followed by Straub who captivates the audience with a hair-raising episode from Black House, the latest thriller he co-authored with Stephen King. King changes pace with a joyful reading of his classic short story The Revenge of Lardass Hogan. Finally, Conroy engages the audience in a hilarious chat on the art of writing.
But Theo finds himself in court much sooner than expected. Because he knows so much—maybe too much—he is suddenly dragged into the middle of a sensational murder trial. A cold-blooded killer is about to go free, and only Theo knows the truth.
A lone courtroom champion knows the whole truth . . . and he’s only thirteen years old.
But when extremists outside Clanton - including the KKK - hear that a black man has killed two white men, they invade the town, determined to destroy anything and anyone that opposes their sense of justice. A national media circus descends on Clanton.
