We’d love your help. Let us know what’s wrong with this preview of Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham.
John Grisham mixes the exciting pace of a thriller with fascinating legal elements, and the results are brilliant. Rogue Lawyer ’s protagonist, Sebastian Rudd, is an absolute whirlwind—smart, gritty, tough—and an easy character to root for.
Sebastian defends people other lawyers won’t go near: a drug-addled, tattooed kid rumored to be in a satanic cult, who is accused of molesting and murdering two little girls; a vicious crime lord on death row; a homeowner arrested for shooting at a SWAT team that mistakenly invaded his house. Why these clients? Because he believes everyone is entitled to a fair trial, even if he, Sebastian, has to cheat to secure one. He hates injustice, doesn’t like insurance companies, banks, or big corporations; he distrusts all levels of government and laughs at the justice system’s notions of ethical behavior.

Because of his reputation, I kept reading, hoping for something interesting, but after finally finishing Gray Mountain, my first thought was, "Well, that was a little boring." and Rogue Lawyer is a little like a short story book. I have read every other John Grisham book several times, because they're that good. (less)
John Grisham is an excellent novelist and also really adept at bringing legal shortcomings to light. This book is not worthy of him. It was a real disappointment from one of my favorite authors.
The successes of The Pelican Brief , which hit number one on the New York Times bestseller list, and The Client, which debuted at number one, confirmed Grisham's reputation as the master of the legal thriller.

Grisham took time off from writing for several months in 1996 to return, after a five-year hiatus, to the courtroom. He was honoring a commitment made before he had retired from the law to become a full-time writer: representing the family of a railroad brakeman killed when he was pinned between two cars.
In 1983, he was elected to the state House of Representatives and served until 1990. One day at the DeSoto County courthouse, Grisham overheard the harrowing testimony of a twelve-year-old rape victim and was inspired to start a novel exploring what would have happened if the girl's father had murdered her assailants.

John Grisham is simply the king of this genre. And I like him even more when he creates characters of street lawyers, here is another, Sebastian Rudd is his name and he is not your typical street lawyer. He works out of a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, fine leather chairs, a hidden gun compartment, and a heavily armed driver. He has no firm, no partners, no associates, and only one employee, his driver, who’s also his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and

John Grisham's run of poor overly dark books continues. It's a recent run of his but it seems as though his characters now are barely ethical, if that, lawyers one step away from disbar ment. Rogue Lawyer was full of one dimensional people who were only good, in the loosest sense of the word, if they fought the system. The criminals are supposed to really be the good guys and Rudd is one of the most boring characters he's ever created. Plus with the van I can't help but think he's ripping off Mic
Overall, John Grisham’s Rogue Lawyer is a novel worth of our attention and something special to read in upcoming cold days of winter.
It is a novel that is very enjoyable and interesting to read as, besides taking about Rudd and his case-solving skills, this book also talks about the state of legal system in the United States, a system that is in great need of reform.
