A Nebraska residentHusker may refer to: A Nebraska resident (current or former). A Nebraska Cornhusker, student of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln; particularly as representing that institution in interscholastic activities. William Adama's callsign in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica television series.
Lee Adama was born to William Adama, a veteran of the First Cylon War, and his wife, Carolanne Adama. He also had a younger brother, Zak Adama. Their father strongly encouraged both boys to enter the Colonial Fleet and become Viper pilots. Unfortunately, Zak was not a natural pilot like his brother and father, and was killed in an accident after being awarded flight status against the better judgment of his flight instructor and fiancée, then- Lieutenant Kara "Starbuck" Thrace. Zak's death drove a wedge between Lee Adama and his father which would only be healed over two years later, after the Destruction of the Twelve Colonies.
Lee Adama's strained relationship with his father also causes him to become a strong supporter of Colonial President Laura Roslin, who often butts heads with William Adama. Roslin, unfamiliar with the military, appoints Lee Adama to be her personal advisor.
After his father's return to Galactica, President Adama is faced with a hostage crisis instigated by the Cylon D'Anna. She demands the Four Cylons within the Colonial fleet reveal themselves and find their way to the Rebel baseship; until then, a Colonial hostage on the baseship would be killed every 15 minutes.
As a part of the final ceremonies marking Galactica's retirement, Lee Adama participates in a final Viper flyby to salute both the ship and her commanding officer — an assignment he undertakes grudgingly, doing little to hide his true feelings from the moment he arrives on the battlestar.
Lee "Apollo" Adama is the elder son of Caroline and William Adama. Together with his younger brother, Zak, he was raised largely by his mother on Caprica, following his parents' divorce when he was eight.
Adama's desire to let democracy work without overt military action comes to a head once more as he plots, with a handful of others, to free Roslin and smuggle her away from Galactica ( Resistance ).
Due to his son's objections, Admiral Adama decides to take Galactica to rescue the people on New Caprica alone. He gives his son orders to wait 18 hours for his return; if he does not return by then, Lee is to resume the search for Earth with what is left of the civilian fleet.
↑ This date is assumed as follows: Zak Adama died 2 years before the Cylon attack. Since he graduated from some kind of military academy, he would at least 22 years old, following real world models. On a photograph of William Adama with his sons, Lee seems to be about two years older than Zak, placing his birth at about 26 years prior to the Cylon attack
When Commander Adama and Admiral Cain turn on each other, Apollo is away in Taylor's Raptor on his recon mission ( Pegasus ). As the two battlestar commanders begin sparring with Vipers, Pegasus orders Taylor to relieve Adama of duty. Taylor pulls his sidearm and takes away Adama's.
Adama's work as Roslin's "special advisor" to further help her understand military matters does not sit well with his father, who is still harboring some reservations about Roslin ( Bastille Day ).
For most of the series, he is lead pilot on board the Battlestar Galactica. Lee is the only character from the original series that doesn't change race or gender. The original Commander Adama played by Lorne Greene was caucasian whereas Edward James Olmos who plays his father is a Latino.
In (Bastille Day), Lee is part of a team sent to a prisoner ship to get volunteers to help fetch water that was lost in (Water). The prisoners escape their holding pens and are led by Tom Zarek, a Sagittaron terrorist. Lee is held prisoner by the prisoners who want to be released and have more rights. At the end of the incident, Lee overpowers Tom Zarek and promises Tom that when the Presidents term of office ends, there will be free and fair elections. The deal that Lee makes angers both his dad and the President. Apollo manages to push it through that there will be elections as he is firm believer in democracy.
The very next day, Lee wakes to find him on his own and then discovers that Starbuck has gone and married Samuel Anders, a Professional Pyramid Sportsman turned resistance fighter then fighter pilot.
Lee is upset that the person who he loves has married and Lee on the rebound falls into love with Petty Officer Anastasia Dualla. Lee is still hurt by what Starbuck has done and Dualla is really the rebound candidate but he doesn't let on.
Lee Adama has his father's strength of character and a virtually inviolable code of ethics. He can be stubborn and difficult, often drives his pilots too hard and himself even harder. He rarely gives anyone a break and never gives himself one. From his mother, he's inherited a secret love of cooking and food, which he indulges whenever he can, the rigid pilot finding an outlet to allow his creative juices to flow only in a kitchen filled with steaming pots and pans.
While Lee was at flight school, his younger brother Zak was just entering the Academy. Zak had a tougher time of it than Lee, constantly falling behind in his studies, always on report for some infraction of the rules, forever one step away from being bounced out.
Lee was born and raised on Caprica. A headstrong, scrappy boy, he was forever getting into fights at school with much bigger kids and usually coming away with the better of the encounter.
The only reason Zak even applied to the Academy was because he worshiped the ground their father walked on - as Lee himself once did. Lee tried to convince Zak to seek another job in the fleet, but Zak wouldn't hear of it; he wasn't going to be the only Adama without wings on his uniform.
Leland Joseph Adama, commonly known as Lee Adama or by his callsign, "Apollo", is a former Colonial Fleet Reserve officer who becomes the Caprican delegate to the Quorum of Twelve, then later the interim President of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. He is the sole surviving son of William Adama. Anonymous.
Lee Adama's relationship with his father had always been strained, culminating with a fracture after the death of his younger brother, Zak, two years before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies.
In the weeks following the Cylon attack, Adama finds time to re-evaluate his relationship with his father - due in no small part to Starbuck's admission of her involvement in Zak's acceptance as a fighter pilot and his subsequent death.
Before he leaves, he apologizes to his unconscious Commander Adama at his bedside for what he is about to do: Leave with Roslin and a factionof ships to search for data on Earth on Kobol. Commander Adama begins to awaken just as young Adama leaves his side.
In flight school, Adama proved himself a gifted and natural pilot, hampered only by his tendency to over-intellectualize, a trait instilled by his mother who encouraged him to read widely and think freely, such as reading the banned texts by the renegade Tom Zarekwhile at college (TRS: "Bastille Day").
However, due to the pressures that he is under , Adama declines the position (despite his interest in law as a child). As a token of his affection, Admiral Adamagives Lee his grandfather's Caprican Law Code books(TRS: "A Day in the Life").
As a part of the ceremonies, Lee Adama grudgingly participates in a final Viper flyby salute, doing little to hide his true feelings from the moment he arrives on the battlestar. Matters are not helped when he discovers he will fly in the restored Viper Mark IIhis father flew during the Cylon War (TRS: "Miniseries").
