Developmental editors also work at publishing houses. They make large-scale changes in a completed manuscript, such as reorganizing, adding or deleting scenes or changing major plot or character inconsistencies. If the publisher accepted the book based on a proposal, the developmental editor will oversee the drafts as the writer produces them.
