Topping off the series is Season 5 â the midpoint of the show really was the best. Season 5 was quite full-on in its events â for example, "The Big House" saw our favorite precinct dealing with two of their squad behind bars, and processing them returning to the 99.
Season eight, sadly, is also the show's last outing. "Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honour the characters, the story and our viewers," said co-creator Dan Goor.
Last but not least is the moment when Jake and Amy become a family of three. Before the "Lights Out" episode, there's another episode that's just as important. It's "Trying.". Jake and Amy come to realize that they're ready to start a family.
2 Jake & Amy (Season 5, Episode 22) It's no surprise that one of the biggest milestones in their relationship was the day they get married. Their perfectly planned day is anything but perfect. someone called the venture with a bomb threat putting the squad on high alert. It proves to be someone from Amy's past.
The critical moment happens at the end when Jake gives in and goes salsa dancing with Amy. Amy is first to say " I love you," but Jake shuts down and says, "Noice. Smort." Amy looks upset until Jake comes to the realization that he truly loves Amy and says "I love you, too."
Jake and Amy's relationship first started blossoming in season one. At first, they couldn't really stand each other because their personalities were so different. In "The Bet," things started to change. Jake bets Amy on who can make the most arrests. In the end, Jake wins and takes Amy on "the worst date ever.".
8 Johnny And Dora (Season 2, Episode 23) This episode is a huge moment in Jake and Amy's relationship from beginning to end. In the beginning, Jake and Amy are assigned a robbery case. Jake is initially reluctant to work with Amy and spills the beans that he was planning on asking her out.
Jake and Amy's relationship from the stakeout never develops. Amy goes on to date Teddy. Which no one on the team likes, especially Jake. Jake is enthralled with his new girlfriend while Amy is starting to dislike Teddy. They're assigned on a work trip and Jake invited his new girlfriend and invited Teddy.
Jake and Amy plan to move in together which is a big milestone for taking their relationship to the next level. One problem, they can't decide whose moving into whose apartment. Hence the bet. It's either Jake's dingy apartment with the never drying towel or Amy's more pristine and clean one.
As a result, he calls for a lawyer, and having held him for 10 hours and 45 minutes, they have 15 minutes left to get a confession out of him. Refusing to release him until that time has passed, Jake figures out that Philip is addicted to the sedative Diazepam and that his boss, Robert, had found out.
As Philip Davidson, a dentist and suspect in a murder case, is entering the precinct for a scheduled interrogation, Jake intends to break him by making his visit as unpleasant as possible, having Gina greet him, turning up the thermostat, spilling soda on the desk in the interrogation room and making the chair uneven. He has a clear motive, clean means and a nonexistent alibi, yet the DA won't press charges, considering the evidence to be all circumstantial, which is why Jake intends to make him confess.
Philip constantly denies Jake's claims, before snapping and blurting out that he deliberately chose the surgical suite, he deliberately left his phone behind so GPS wouldn't track him and that he killed Robert with a dental polymer, not an award which anyone would clearly notice had gone missing.
When Holt pretends to have to leave, Jake stays with the suspect, and asks a series of seemingly trivial questions. Philip, having let his guard down, accidentally reveals that he knew the location where the body was found, even though the information hasn't been made public, yet.
As the squad attends the funeral of their former CO, Captain Holt finds out that he has been shortlisted for the position of New York Police Chief Commissioner and has an interview scheduled regarding the job.
Jake comes to the rescue though for he has a plan, a cross-country road trip. He has managed to acquire an RV and believes they can make it back in time if they stick to the plan. Of course, the plan does not go to plan.
Boyleâs cousins are farmers who specialise in cows meaning that there are lots of cow screaming. They shouldnât be too worried though as itâs just the cows having sex with each other. Both concerned and grateful for the hospitality the squad gets settled into the living room which they are all bunking in for the night.
Holt admits that he cannot take the job for he is compromised. That he made a deal with some bad people and they will try and use him and his power. Amy puts two and two together and realises that Holt made a deal with the gangster Seamus Murphy.
This confession, while very moving, is not a good enough reason for Holt to throw away his dream job. The nine-nine support each and will support Holt through this.
As they all wait in the bar for Holt to return, Boyle approaches Rosa to offer his support for her and her relationship, after all, it doesnât change anything. Holt finally returns to tell them all that he is officially on the short list to become the next NYPD Police Commissioner.
Before season 8 of Brooklyn 99, heist double-crosses have been executed purely with the intent of victory, but the last episode's multitude of betrayals feature a number of alternate motivations.
Holt and Amy's promotions in the finale are obvious, but other characters' advancements are more subtle. For starters, Terry does get promoted to Captain of the Nine-Nine despite having been double and then triple-crossed with a fake job interview. It's also noteworthy that Charles gets a promotion in the form of his new partner and their dynamic.
With many of the characters receiving very different conclusions, it's difficult to keep track of where everyone ends up and who gets a happy ending.
The theme of family has always been prominent throughout the show, and the series finale ties this together perfectly. The whole episode is a well-established family tradition for the Nine-Nine, but it also stresses some specific points of the familial theme.
