It's pretty rare these days to set up a fantastical story that ends, βit was all a dream β and then I woke upβ. Horror legal thriller The Devil's Advocate takes a sideways run at it by having the story take place in a daydream. Halfway through a court case, Kevin Lomax realises his client is guilty of child abuse.
Aspiring Florida defense lawyer Kevin Lomax (Keanu Reeves) accepts a high-powered position at a New York law firm headed by legal shark John Milton (Al Pacino). As Kevin moves up in the firm's ranks, his wife, Mary Ann (Charlize Theron), has several frightening, mystical experiences that begin to warp her sense of reality. With the stakes getting higher with each case, Kevin quickly learns that his mentor is planning a far greater evil than simply winning without scruples. The Devil's Advocate / Film synopsis

John Milton is the titular main antagonist of the 1997 mystery/thriller movie The Devil's Advocate, based on the Andrew Neiderman novel of the same name, and he portrayed himself as a representative of a New York law firm, but was in reality, Satan himself.
Alice reveals that Milton is Kevin's father, whom she met in New York decades earlier, and her experience with him was traumatic. Kevin leaves the hospital to confront Milton, who admits to raping Mary Ann.
In the Devils Advocate Keanu Reeves plays a lawyer who is the devils son. He sees his life fall apart slowly throughout the film. In the end he is giving a second chance to do the right thing but is ultimately still being tested by the devil.

In past films, like Dog Day Afternoon (1975) and even Serpico (1973), he's been the eccentric, cut off from a sane world. This time, he's the most rational person in the picture. It's everyone around him, and his environment, which is bizarre."
In this movie Al Pacino once again proves my point that he (Al Pacino) is one of the greatest actors off all time. By 1979 he had already pretty much proven this but never the less this is one of his best films yet. Even without Al Pacino this movie would be great.
