Hereâs our favourite female TV lawyers of all time. 1. Dianne Lockhart â The Good Wife Elegant composed and ready for a fight, Dianne Lockhart from The Good Wife is one of my favourite lawyers on TV.
Hortense Sparks Ward (1910): First female lawyer in Texas, as well as the first female admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court (1915) Florence Bates (1914): One of the first female lawyers in Texas. She would leave the profession and become a Hollywood actress later in life.
Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez: First openly L GBT (female) judge in Bexar County, Texas (2019) Migdalia Lopez: First female elected as a County Court at Law Judge in Cameron County, Texas. She is the first female to serve as a District Court Judge in Cameron and Willacy Counties, Texas.
Many of these movies have been made from books (a whole shelf belongs to John Grisham of his own) but most TV lawyers develop out of TV scripts.
2. Ally McBeal â Ally McBeal. Loosely based on the personal traits of his stunning, neurotic wife, Michelle Pfeiffer (well, âallegedlyâ), David Kelley dreamed up one of the most famous and memorable lawyers of all time â the ditzy, quirky, charming, paranoid (hallucinations anyone?) wisp of a woman, Ally McBeal.
Jessica Pearson â Suits. The Managing Partner of big city law firm, Pearson Specter Litt, Pearson sassily sways around the office commanding respect from all who report to her â sheâs a control freak whohas worked hard to build a legal life sheâs proud of and she wonât let anyone stand in her way.
Whilst the wildly popular SATC is firmly focused on sex, âRabbitsâ, love and other bedroom dramas, who can forget one its favourite characters, Miranda Hobbes, the hard working, fiery haired lawyer who famously quits her job because of her misogynistic boss.
Shirley Schmidt â Boston Legal. The founding member of Crane, Poole and Schmidt, Shirley is a formidable lawyer played by the unforgettable veteran, Candice Bergen, a woman who responded to a multitude of allegations by simply claiming âIâm Schmidtâ.
Renard Spivey, a sheriffâs deputy in Texas who appeared on a popular TV show, has been charged with murder after his wife was found shot twice in their bedroom closet, according to the criminal complaint. Spivey, who had been a bailiff in the show â Justice For All with Judge Cristina Perez ,â called 911 early Sunday morning to report there had ...
Spivey was hired as a detention officer in 1996 and became a deputy in 1998, the Harris County Sheriffâs Office said. Houston is part of the county, located in southeastern Texas.
An autopsy determined Patricia Spivey had been shot twice. One of the bullets had gone through her right arm. âOnce the bullet went through her arm, causing the bone to break, the arm would be incapable of use,â the complaint said, regarding observations from the medical examiner.
Washington told the investigator he took that to mean that the deputy would hurt his wife. When they spoke, Washington said he had told Renard Spivey that if things were that bad between the couple, âhe should just leave,â the complaint says.
Spivey was booked into jail on Monday night, according to the Harris County Sheriffâs Office. He was expected to be released Wednesday on a $50,000 bond, his defense attorney Mike DeGeurin said in a phone interview.
The history of attorneys on TV dates back to the 1950s with the appearance of âMr. Maloneâ on NBC in 1951. The genre is alive and well today with more than a dozen law-related shows on broadcast television at any one time, not to mention the shows available on cable and streaming networks.
20. Harvey Birdman, âHarvey Birdman, âAttorney at Lawâ. The first thing that should be noted is that Harvey Birdman is the only lawyer that has âAttorney at Lawâ in the title of his show.
Ben Matlock, âMatlockâ. A gentlemanly Southern lawyer , Matlock may have moved slow and was tight with a buck, but he always got his man or woman. The homespun philosophy that you received every episode was a bonus as was the ability to watch Andy Griffith continue to ply his trade. 6. Jackie Chiles, âSeinfeldâ.
Ally McBeal, âAlly McBealâ. If nothing else, âAlly McBealâ gave us the âDancing Baby,â which was a reference to the biological clock ticking away for McBeal. Again, McBeal doesnât really make the list because of her prowess in the courtroom, which wasnât seen all that often â even though she did graduate from Harvard.
