The character of Hugo is entirely fictional. Georges Méliès's had two wives, first wife Eugénie, who was married to Méliès during the time he made films (and who died in 1913). And second Jeanne d'Alcy, they did not marry until 1925. In film Eugénie got skipped and Jeanne presented as fusion of both of his wives.

Hugo reflects on how living in a world of machines drives us to find our own personal purpose and place in the world. Although it is not what would be typically classified as science fiction, Martin Scorsese's 2011 film Hugo uses a machine as its central metaphor to convey themes very intimate to humanity.

Hugo himself is trained to take care of clocks, and cares for 27 brass clocks that are arranged throughout the train station in which he lives. They come to symbolize time for Hugo, for time seems to have stood still following the death of his father and the disappearance of his uncle: time becomes Hugo's life.
"Hugo" is unlike any other film Martin Scorsese has ever made, and yet possibly the closest to his heart: a big-budget, family epic in 3-D, and in some ways, a mirror of his own life. We feel a great artist has been given command of the tools and resources he needs to make a movie about — movies.
The automaton too plays such a role in Hugo's life, becoming a central metaphor for understanding what it means to be human, particularly what it means to be a broken human being.

But on a trip to her hometown for Christmas, Samantha learns the truth when an old classmate turns out to be a royal watcher and recognises Alex as Prince Alexander of Maldovia. Hijinks ensue!
What it's about: This movie is truly a fresh take on the formula, considering the fact that not only are BOTH the leads brunette, but this time the woman is the royalty! That's right, our girl Katie (Briana Evigan) is princess of Montsaurai, and while on a trip to New York she runs away from her royal obligations to live like a normal woman for a few short days – with the help of a charming, flannel-wearing handyman named Jack (Paul Campbell), of course.
What it's about: Vanessa Hudgens apparently loves Christmas so much she plays not one but TWO roles in this movie – ordinary Chicago baker Stacy De Novo and duchess of Montsaurai Margaret Delacourt. Stacy travels to Belgravia for a baking competition with her best friend Kevin (Nick Sagar) and his daughter in tow. There, she literally bumps into Margaret, who immediately seizes the opportunity to take a break from her royal duties in the lead up to her wedding to Prince Edward (Sam Palladio). The two switch places, making for much comedy – and romance.
What it's about: Jules (Katie McGrath) is a regular gal from Buffalo, New York, who is raising her niece and nephew after her sister and brother-in-law died in an accident. She loses her job and is in a desperate financial situation when the kids' grandfather (Roger Moore) on their dad's side remembers they exist and invites them to Castlebury for Christmas. Yep, he's a duke! And his son Ashton (Sam Heughan) is a prince ("on his mother's side")! Who is ready to fall in love with Jules, naturally, and it's OK THEY AREN'T RELATED because the movie explicitly says so at least twice.
She butts heads with the king, Alexander (Andrew Cooper), who has been dubbed the "Grinch King" because of his hatred of Christmas. Except he doesn't REALLY hate Christmas, he has just been left broken-hearted by his wife's death. If only someone would skate on in to heal his heart and teach him to love Christmas...and other things... again...
What it's about: King Charles (Ingo Rademacher) of Baltania's wife has died, but it's OK because he didn't love her that much anyway. In his heart he still pines for his college sweetheart, Allison (Tara Reid), who didn't know he was royalty as he was studying in America under a fake identity. Meanwhile, Allison has secrets of her own – like the child (Haley Pullos) she conceived with Charles the night before he abandoned her 17 years ago.
What it's about: Emily (Lacey Chabert) and Leo (Stephen Hagan) have been dating for a year when she discovers he's... you guessed it, secretly a prince! Of a totally real country called Cardinia! He takes her home for Christmas and it's all completely normal, except of course his mother, THE QUEEN (Jane Seymour), wants to break them up so her dear boy can marry some posh duchess. You know, just regular family stuff.
Before you can begin your search, you’ll need to at least have some piece of information that links to the film or whatever else you’re trying to find.
After you’ve searched (no matter how vague) and you’re on a studio, film, or actor’s page, it’s all about narrowing it down. If it’s an actor’s name that you have, you’ll want to look at their filmography. You can first narrow it down by looking at just the Actor section of their credits page.
If you’re looking for something other than a film or actor, just try relating the techniques to your search.
Cusack was trying to sell an antique document and had to arrange the theft to look like a murder had taken place. He was a college graduate who had returned to his home town and was working in a recycling plant and met up with an old friend who was now a college professor. Please tell me the name of the film if you can.
He's not sure but he thinks that the bird may have attacked her. #8 This movie had Demi Moore, Chevy Chase, John Candy, and Dan Ackroid. It took place in New Jersey. The travelers get pulled over and get taken off to traffic court. Traffic court is held in this HUGE old house.
John Candy plays a dual role as the cop and the judge's daughter. They end up spending the night and the house is just crazy. I remember them taking a ride on a little roller coaster that is in the house, and they end up in a pile of bones.
An orphan film is a motion picture work that has been abandoned by its owner or copyright holder; also, any film that has suffered neglect.
In The Film Experience: An Introduction (2004), for example, Timothy Corrigan and Patricia White include a section on orphan films, defining them simply as "Any sort of films that have survived but have no commercial interests to pay the costs of their preservation. ". Defined in this way, more films are orphans than not.
After the fifth Orphan Film Symposium ("Science, Industry & Education") took place at the University of South Carolina (March 2006), New York University took up the project, incorporating it into the Department of Cinema Studies and its Moving Image Archiving and Preservation master's program at the Tisch School of the Arts.
In 2001, members of these academic-archival professions began referring to an “orphan film movement.”. As archivist-scholar Caroline Frick has written, some of the most active participants identify themselves as “orphanistas,” passionate advocates for saving, studying, and screening neglected cinema.
Ashcroft and the 2006 Copyright Office Report on Orphan Works. In September 2008, the U.S. Senate passed a bill (S.2913) "to provide a limitation on judicial remedies in copyright infringement cases involving orphan works," but the House of Representatives adjourned before addressing the measure.
As early as October 1950 Industrial Marketing magazine referred to 16mm industrial sales movies as orphan films. Restoration expert Robert Gitt was quoted using the metaphor as early as 1992, to refer to silent-era films, newsreels, and kinescopes.
In October 2012, the EU adopted the Orphan Works Directive 2012/28/EU which legally allows the (online) use of orphan works across Europe, provided that a search for the rights holder has been carried before.

Basic plot is that the prisons are getting overpopulated so in a bid to reduce the number of prisoners in the jails, someone (don't know if it's the government or a TV show) gives the death row prisoners a chance at survival by letting them lose in the city. They must kill each other and the last one standing gets their freedom.
the name of the movie i'm after is about a bank heist. the robbers are wearing some sort of black mask and they also put black masks on the hostages, so when they all exit the bank, the police don't know who the robbers are..
It's about an old agent (I think ex-cia) who will not leave his house because he's paranoid that someone is still out to kill him. It involves him putting a full size doll in his bed, sleeping on the floor of his closet, and having to assemble a code on his computer each day or else the secret info he's keeping gets sent out...
