She disappeared at the end of "Please Say No One Else Is Dead" along with her son Christopher Castillo. Its later revealed in "Annalise Keating Is Dead" that Laurel fled to Brooklyn with Tegan Price's help out of fear of her family and what they might do to her and Christopher.

On last week's episode, it was revealed that Laurel's mom and Laurel are both fluent in French. Back in Season 2 it was revealed that Wes and his mom immigrated from Haiti and the language most commonly spoken there is Haitian Creole, which is largely based on the French language.
A couple of months later, Laurel is sent a box similar in size to the one Sandrine sent with the baptism gown in it. Inside Laurel finds a gift bag containing her mother's scalp. It is implied Laurel's brother, Xavier, is responsible for Sandrine's death.
So, the show never explicitly says that Wes knew his murderer Dominic, but leaves open ends which could mean they were old acquaintances. That is, until season 4, when we find that Dominic's number was given to Wes as an emergency contact by none other than his girlfriend Laurel's mom, Sandrine.
Update 5/14/20: In the series finale episode of How to Get Away with Murder, it was revealed that the person at Annalise's funeral wasn't actually Wes Gibbins at all. Alfred Enoch returned to play Wes and Laurel's son, Christopher, all grown up.
Annalise then gives Simon's spot as the second chair to Michaela. Following the end of the trial, the judge rules against and Karim and has him deported.
