Nathan Sawaya (born July 10, 1973) is an American artist who builds custom three-dimensional sculptures and large-scale mosaics from popular everyday items and is best known for his work with standard LEGO building bricks.
When his parents refused to get a dog for then 10-year-old Nathan Sawaya, he built a life-sized dog sculpture out of LEGO bricks. As a corporate attorney in New York City in need of a creative outlet, Sawaya returned to his favorite childhood toy.
