How I Met Your Mother has so many amazing scenes that it's no surprise these often get forgotten - despite being incredible. There are a few scenes and episodes that just stand out over How I Met Your Mother 's run.
It's not the most popular scene, but there's no denying that it's Ted's most iconic one. How I Met Your Mother is all about foreshadowing, and the best series finales have a full-circle moment. On the night that Ted and Robin went on their first date, he steals the blue french horn from the restaurant and holds it up outside her window.
Enrique Iglesias is a really fun cameo role in How I Met Your Mother, playing Robin's boyfriend, Gael. He's a character the rest of the group aren't sure about, mainly because of how Ted feels about Robin at that time, so when he first arrives and meets everyone, it leads to a hilariously awkward scene.
While How I Met Your Mother was full of memorable storylines, fans will agree that each of the main characters ended up having some iconic scenes.
It is simply the story of the gang searching out a burger place that Marshall found when he first moved to the city, and then never found again. In the end, after several false searches, they do find it - and that becomes a funny and satisfying end.
It's hilarious, but it's poignant and relatable at the same time.
This is definitely a rewatchable episode for older viewers who will see themselves in it, as Barney and Ted talk about aging, and the things that they are now just too old for. It's a great episode to rewatch as it's one that has essentially no major impact on the plot, and so spends much more time focused on just being funny.
One of the funniest is when Ted decides to start doing shots and calls Robin, while she is on a date.

A lot of the best moments from MacLaren's comes when the group is all together, but this moment is actually when Ted sits all on his one in their usual booth. After all of his friends are too busy to come with him to see Robot vs. Wrestlers, he sits with Barney in his imagination talking to him.
During the episode, "Three Days Of Snow, " Ted and Barney make it clear that they wish they could own a bar together. Luck comes their way in the form of a storm which leads to Ted and Barney getting their chance to run MacLaren's themselves.
That just so happens to be in the toilets of MacLaren's, where Barney begins imparting his 'wisdom' onto his future best friend.
This is the first time that Ted learns some of Barney's lessons, which just so happens to include Ted needing to go out and buy a suit , which is something that Barney continues to tell him countless times throughout their lives.

Everything went wrong at Marshall and Lily's wedding, from Scooter's appearance to Marshall's hair catastrophe. In the end, though, it was all these mishaps that made their wedding so perfect.
Lily then tells Marshall something Barney told her not to tell anyone; he had flown to San Fransisco to give Lily a plane ticket home because she and Marshall belonged together. This was one of the earliest examples of Barney showing how much he truly, unequivocally loved his friends.
But the fact that not only did the baby get given the middle name waitforit, but as Marshall says, the baby was named Marvin after his recently passed father.
Barney made it seem as though he was expecting a laser tag rehearsal dinner; it was all a big ruse, though, as, in reality, Barney planned Robin's perfect rehearsal dinner in an ice-skating rink, bringing Canada to her since she could not go to Canada. The reveal was excellent, Robin's reaction was great, and overall it just made audiences so happy for the pair.
This, though, was touching. The episode "Symphony of Illumination" heartbreakingly reveals that Robin cannot have children, which she does not tell anyone.
Marshall and Lily have such a beautiful relationship . Still, like any relationship, it is susceptible to, they are not always able to keep up all the cutesy nor the white-hot level of romance they did.
The slap bet was one of the best running gags in How I Met Your Mother, and Slapsgiving soon became a tradition for the gang. Marshall decides to make a countdown in anticipation of the event, leaving Barney dreading every second leading up to it.
Because of all the drama it causes at Thanksgiving, Lily, the slap bet commissioner, rules that there will be no slaps during the holiday. At the last minute, Lily changes her mind, and Marshall delivers a slap that leaves Barney reeling. He even heads to the piano to play a song he wrote for the occasion. This wasn't the only time Marshall ended up getting behind the piano as he also participated in some big musical numbers too.
On the night that Ted and Robin went on their first date, he steals the blue french horn from the restaurant and holds it up outside her window. The end of Ted's story revealed that Robin regretted marrying Barney and not Ted. But Ted was already with Tracy and Robin had missed her shot.
On the night that Ted finishes relating his kids the story, he tells Robin he loves her by showing up outside her window with the blue french horn ( which was a great callback to some of the key moments in their relationship ).
The reason Ted and Robin broke up in How I Met Your Mother s eason 2 was that they both wanted different things in life. In the present, Ted had the family he always desired and Robin had traveled the world and accomplished all her goals. It had been years since the mother had passed, and Ted and Robin rekindled their friendship.
Her music video is especially hilarious because Cobie Smulders plays teenage Robin in a blonde wig, and it's the complete opposite of the Robin viewers had come to know and love.
Although Barney has told many unnecessary lies on the show, he is honest with Quinn when she asks him to tell her the truth. A timer appears on the bottom of the screen and Barney speaks so quickly, it's difficult to comprehend everything he's saying. Barney doesn't stumble over a single word and finishes the story with two seconds to spare. He uses his extra time to throw in how he went on The Price is Right and won a doom buggy.
Barney and Robin's relationship gets a lot of attention, and the times they get together are often highlighted. Even the time that they almost get together, and Robin chooses to stay with Kevin is a standout (and a heartbreaking one). However, their breakup is often overlooked.
While How I Met Your Mother is known as a show that isn't reliant on realism, it manages to pull that off because it has so many small moments of true realism and reliability. Ted describing what happens when he drinks bourbon is definitely one of them.
When it comes to the relationships between the gang and their parents, Marshall losing his father is the standout, and it tends to overshadow the rest. However, when Barney reconnects with his father, and learns that he was a suburban dad, what follows is one of the most heartbreaking scenes of the series.
Barney's best scenes are those where he drops the playboy act and reveals that he is actually incredibly sensitive and caring (to his friends, anyway) - like when he goes to San Francisco to try and bring Lily home after she leaves Marshall.
In 'Murtaugh', Barney and Ted play with extremes of age - with Barney trying to prove that he can do everything he used to, and Ted trying to prove that being an 'old person' would be enjoyable.
It's rare to see a sitcom where the characters smoke, but in a show like How I Met Your Mother, set in the 2000s, when the gang are spending all their time in bars and also smoke 'sandwiches', it borders on unrealistic.
For most shows with this kind of premise, it's common to see every character dating (and sleeping with people) all the time. Barney and Ted, of course, manage this in abundance, but it's fantastic to see How I Met Your Mother bring some balance to the table with Marshall and Lily.
