The Parable of the Unjust Judge (also known as the Parable of the Importunate Widow or the Parable of the Persistent Woman, is one of the parables of Jesus which appears in the Gospel of Luke (Luke 18:1–8). In it, a judge who lacks compassion is repeatedly approached by a woman seeking justice.
People in authority have to be held accountable; that is what the widow did. She said to the judge: "It is your job to see that justice is done, vindicate me against my adversaries."
It tells of a judge who "did not fear God and did not respect man", who is repeatedly approached by a poor widow, seeking justice. Initially rejecting her demands, he eventually honors her request to avoid being worn out by her persistence.
The judge who had never feared God or had much respect for anyone was now taken in by the Lord and was accepted. This is a significant parable for teaching us about God. We are taught by this parable that God will take in anyone at any time, even if they have never feared him or had much faith in him.
What is Persistent Prayer? Persistent prayer is that doesn't give up. It's praying for something until God either our prayer, or He tells us to stop praying. Persistent prayer is standing in faith that God will answer your prayer. It never stops until it receives God's answer.Feb 8, 2018
The Parable of the Persistent Widow, Luke 18:1-8, gives us a reason to keep on trusting and praying, “Thy kingdom come,” even as we wait in a world where the “already” of God's victory at the cross has not fully supplanted the “not yet” that we see in a world of evil around us.

We read in Luke 18:27 that Jesus, referring to salvation, told those who questioned him that what is impossible for man is possible with God.

Parable of the Widow and the Unjust Judge teaches persistence, faith, and prayer, with a promise of God's ultimate justice. 18:9-14. Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector contrasts pride and humility in prayer, and demonstrates the bold faith possible to the humble and penitent believer. 18:15-17.
Jesus' answer is firm: "He will see that they get justice, and quickly" (18:8). He decided to grant her what she was due just to get rid of her. This wasn't a real widow, of course, nor a real judge, but Jesus' hearers had met widows like her, and had experience with judges like him. All over the audience you could see people nodding their heads. They'd met people like that.
The judge does not answer because he cares about God, justice or the woman. Jesus is using boxing imagery here for wearing a person down by hitting him under the eye. The judge is not concerned with a knockout, but she is wearing him down. He answers because she is annoying him.
He argues from the lesser to the greater. If an unjust judge (who is not like God) will hear the case of a widow and stranger (which we are not) then surely God will hear our prayers. God has graciously initiated a relationship with his children.
God is clear in Exodus 21:10-11 that a woman is to be freed (allowed a divorce) from a husband that refuses to provide her because in doing so he has breached the marriage covenant.
If a woman is failing to keep the home, failing to cook meals or failing to adequately care for the children a husband could discipline his wife by removing her access to his income and him directly providing the food and other necessities himself .
God allows divorce for a husband’s failure to provide. In the book of Exodus God gives a woman these rights that are due her, and if her husband fails to give her these three things she is to be freed (divorced from him): “If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish.
The English phrase “duty of marriage” is a translation of the Hebrew word “ ownah” which literally means “conjugal rights” (right to sex). But there are certain sins which God considers to be breaches of the marriage covenant, and other sins while still being terrible and wrong, do not breach the marriage covenant and therefore do not warrant divorce.
Some men may lose their jobs (either because of their own failure, or no failure of their own) and this temporary loss of provision does not warrant divorce. In fact some men may go through some temporary times of depression if they lose their job and a wife needs to be patient with her husband and build him back up.
Does God allow a man to divorce his wife for laziness? No – a husband may not divorce his wife for laziness, but he may discipline her for it as her head and authority. Just because a man is expected to be the primary provider, this does not free a wife to sit on the couch all day either.
