Jane the Virgin premiered on The CW on October 13, 2014, during the 2014–15 television season. Unique to the CW, it is the network's only program to feature a Spanish language audio track on the second audio program channel; however, as many CW stations usually do not carry the SAP channel due to a lack of need, this is more limited than the major networks, which are required by the FCC to have a SAP channel for the Descriptive Video Service track, which as a minor network the CW is not required to carry.

However, JR states she needs a complete fresh start, which she can't have with Petra still there, reminding her of what happened. Petra is left heartbroken and is comforted by Jane to whom she revealed that she had bought an engagement ring, planning to propose.
Reason (s) 1st — JR breaks up with Petra after she learns that Petra did push Anezka (although Petra didn't know the balcony was loose), a lie which immunized Petra from ever getting prosecuted again and cost JR her license to practice law. 2nd - JR gets a job offer in Houston, and sees it as an opportunity to have a fresh start.
JR drops by to thank Petra with a bottle of wine and Petra's tipsy from trying to write a book. JR doesn't think it's a good idea to publish a book whilst under investigation. She asks what Petra will write about AneĹľka and Petra says she'll need more wine for that.

Although she is unenthusiastic, Jane convinces her to give it a shot and she ends up creating a dating profile.
From its inception, Jane the Virgin pitted the protagonist against the villainous Petra Solano (Yael Grobglas ). It was a classic telenovela blonde versus brunette scenario. But Petra was never a one-dimensional villain. She had layers and nuances that made the audience root for her time and again, no matter how much bad she did.
As Petra played the role of the wife who only wanted her family to remain intact with her, Rafael and the baby, she secretly carried on an affair with her husband's best friend. When Michael found out he promised to keep her indiscretion secret if she promised to end it immediately.
Petra was originally engaged to Lachlan as she and Magda schemed for her to find a rich husband to keep the two Czech women stable and financially supported. But then Rafael walked in and Magda saw he was a bigger catch.
Petra uses the mark as evidence to accuse Rafael of domestic abuse. It's a moment where her actions don't just hurt the one she loves but undermines the real-life trauma actual victims of abuse undergo every day. This scenario of crying wolf doesn't make Petra a sympathetic character at all.
When she sees Rafael slipping out of her grasp Petra goes to her lowest and blackmails him using custody of Jane's baby as leverage. She's so desperate to cling to the life she found and wants that she's willing to use the wellbeing of an infant as the ace up her sleeve.
When Petra learns that the clinic still has one sample left of Rafael's sperm she takes advantage of their outdated records and claims it as his wife. With a little help from a turkey baster, she inseminates herself as a final ditch attempt to keep Rafael in her life.
Petra grew into a better person over the course of five seasons through her friendship with Jane. But she still did plenty of terrible things before — and sometimes even after — turning a new leaf. Here are 10 of the worst things Petra Solano ever did.
Petra’s having an affair with Roman Zazo! In the pilot episode, when we learn that Petra Solano is having an affair with her husband’s best friend Roman, the reaction is more raised-eyebrow than full-on-gasp. They both seemed like less-than-great people, anyway.
Petra’s name isn’t really Petra! Until I recently rewatched the show, I had completely forgotten that Petra’s real name is Natalia. She changed it when she and her mother, Magda, fled to America to get away from Petra’s ex, Milos.
Petra was engaged to Lachlan but left him for Rafael! When Lachlan — Rafael’s rival for control of the Marbella (and his father’s affection) — shows up, we learn that Rafael and Petra only met because Petra was engaged to Lachlan at one point and Rafael stole her away.
One of the most heart-warming twists to ever twist! Petra’s trying to convince all of us (including herself) that she doesn’t need love—she has the Marbella—but her ex-husband-baby-daddy-best-friend Rafael sees through that and apparently calls JR to tell her Petra still loves her. JR shows up just before Jane and Rafael’s wedding and professes her love and the two share a big romantic kiss. Listen, in my heart I didn’t think we’d end this thing without Petra getting the happy ending she deserved, but I was getting worried as the clock was winding down. Who can resist a last-minute surprise declaration of love!
And he lied about it to Jane for six months ! This is not the most memorable twist, nor the most shocking (Rafael and Michael really hated each other, remember?), but it is important. Remember this: Michael accusing Rafael of telling the police that he let Nadine go when he first discovered she was working for Sin Rostro, and then Michael and Raf getting into a physical altercation over it (baby Mateo gets cut with glass!), is why Jane ends things with Michael just as they were about to get back together. Jane discovering that Rafael was lying — for six months — is what ends her and Rafael’s reconciliation for good. It has a lot of emotional ramifications.
The final scene of Jane the Virgin is Jane and Rafael sitting in their post-wedding bliss like the two ridiculously attractive people they are, discussing the end of Jane ’s novel: the story gets turned into a telenovela, she says.
Yes, this one is quite similar to that whole Elodea Gale Vigor Scholarship thing, but this reveal is a bit more emotionally gutting to our protagonist. Discovering that she was only a “published freaking author” because her father promised to reimburse the publisher if the novel didn’t sell 10,000 copies not only diminishes one of Jane’s greatest accomplishments, but is also a serious knock to her confidence in her writing as she tried to figure out her second novel. In short, this one really stung. At least it makes her victory in being offered $500,000 (!) for her new book that much sweeter.
Petra recognizes the person and may even be slightly upset that Jane Ramos shot them. And while there are a number of characters that can be ruled out, there are still plenty of people who would want to see Petra dead. Right before JR saves Petra's life, she breaks up with her.
JR even ruined her own law career in order to clear Petra's name in the belief that she was innocent. JR is understandably furious that Petra has deceived her and says she never wants to see her again. JR is on her way out of the Marbella when Krishna calls her from jail.
Krisha is in jail for saying that she blackmailed JR to try to pin Anezka's murder on Petra. But Krishna tells JR that the real blackmailer threatened her into saying that.
Luisa is alive and doesn't like Petra very much. But she seemed at peace when Rafael saw her last. So unless Rose put her up to killing Petra, it would be surprising for Luisa to have turned homicidal. Petra's ex-boyfriend Chuck also probably has some ill feelings toward her, but he hasn't been relevant for a while. There's also Milos, Petra's kind-of husband. She had suspected him of the blackmail already, but would he ever be able to pull the trigger on Petra when he's always loved her so much? Plus, JR discovered that Milos is still in jail in "Chapter 76." In that episode, Petra also provided a very long list of suspects, including Pammy the Parrot.
