The main villain of Jane the Virgin meets her fate by being impaled by the tail of the golden statue of Rogelio's This Is Mars character (good thing Ro practiced with it to ensure it stayed in the show) — just like Rose's lackey Roman had pushed his twin brother Aaron to his death onto the marlin ice sculpture at the ...

The final scene of Jane the Virgin is Jane and Rafael sitting in their post-wedding bliss like the two ridiculously attractive people they are, discussing the end of Jane ’s novel: the story gets turned into a telenovela, she says.
One of the most telenovela reveals this telenovela has in the first season is when Petra figures out that Aaron Zazo, Roman’s brother who has come to visit the Solanos after Roman’s death by ice sculpture, is actually Roman.
I am well aware that this has very little impact on the plot of the show, but the reveal that the Elodea Gale Vigor Scholarship is fake makes me laugh every time. First, there’s the reveal that Elodea Gale Vigor spells out Rogelio De La Vega, as if he is Tom Marvolo Riddle becoming Lord Voldemort. Then there’s the fact that Jane calls the number listed for the scholarship and gets Rogelio’s voicemail, in which he is singing, “It’s a beautiful day to call Rogelio.” Most reveals on this show are brimming with drama and tragedy, but this one brings only joy. Okay, well, it’s not joyous for Jane, who only learns of this once Rogelio is broke and can’t pay for the Elodea Gale Vigor scholarship anymore, leaving her to figure out tuition payments on her own. Still, for us, very fun.
Yes, this one is quite similar to that whole Elodea Gale Vigor Scholarship thing, but this reveal is a bit more emotionally gutting to our protagonist. Discovering that she was only a “published freaking author” because her father promised to reimburse the publisher if the novel didn’t sell 10,000 copies not only diminishes one of Jane’s greatest accomplishments, but is also a serious knock to her confidence in her writing as she tried to figure out her second novel. In short, this one really stung. At least it makes her victory in being offered $500,000 (!) for her new book that much sweeter.
Oh, you guys, this was an excellent season-ending twist. Up until that point, Jane had never been directly involved in the Sin Rostro stuff. Everything changes after this arc — for all of the main players.
Petra’s having an affair with Roman Zazo! In the pilot episode, when we learn that Petra Solano is having an affair with her husband’s best friend Roman, the reaction is more raised-eyebrow than full-on-gasp. They both seemed like less-than-great people, anyway.
Jane the Virgin is a telenovela after all, and telenovelas are meant to make you feel, to make you swoon, and to make you gasp. Jane excels at the first two, but the way the show pulls off that third piece is truly artful. It’s fairly astounding to witness the intricacy with which Jane lays the groundwork for its most surprising moments, ...

The seeds for this final chapter were sown from the very beginning of Jane the Virgin — Jane is immediately attracted to Rafael, flirts with the idea of becoming a writer , and her estranged parents cannot deny their own attraction for one another.

While the story took some telenovela twists and turns along the way, it was always working toward that conclusion. Because of that, Jane the Virgin Season 5 was a natural conclusion for the CW show. The story ended exactly where it should have. Not to mention, the ending stayed so true to Jane as a character.
Jane the Virgin was a definite hit when it ran on the CW. Each season of the show was certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and the endearingly-outrageous telenovela-inspired storylines made it seem like the series could go on for years on end. But much to the disappointment of its fans, Jane the Virgin ended its run after five seasons.
Jane the Virgin wasn't canceled by its network. Instead, Urman made the creative decision to end the show at Season 5. As she told the New York Times, Urman had always planned for Jane the Virgin to last for five years. The show's writers had begun to map out the series finale as early as Season 3.
When that happens, a good show's reputation can become tarnished. But thanks to Urman's creative decision, Jane the Virgin 's reputation will permanently stay intact , and her show ultimately benefitted from it in the long run.
Urman was able to carry out the ending she had in mind from when she pitched the show. While a few details changed over the years, Urman ended Jane the Virgin in the way that she had always imagined. It's an opportunity few showrunners get to have.
In the finale, we see Jane get married to Rafael. It is also revealed that the whole show has been a narration of a telenovela version of Jane's book, which she began writing in the final season. When Jane walks down the aisle, the identity of the narrator is revealed, and it's a complete doozy.
