Boone is a kind, independent 13-year-old student who resides in the medium-sized city of Strattenburg, Pennsylvania, with his parents: Woods Boone, a real estate lawyer, and Marcella Boone, a divorce attorney. Theo dreams of following in their footsteps one day, becoming either a lawyer or judge.
His mother was a noted divorce lawyer, one who always represented the wife, and Theo knew this area of the building well. Since divorce trials were decided by judges, juries were not used, and since most judges preferred not to have large groups of spectators observing such sensitive matters, the courtroom was small.
Theodore Boone, Kid Lawyer is the story of Theo, only child of lawyer-parents, who himself dreams of becoming one day a trial lawyer, just like his parents. He may only be in middle school, but he knows practically more law than any other seasoned lawyer, and this is demonstrated by several of his peers com.

Oh my gods, kids, Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer is about 250 out of 263 pages of telling. I felt like I was slogging through half this book. I was so bored.
Take a chance, it's a quick read and even better listen once you get used to British narrator. Characters. Theodore Boone : A thirteen-year old boy who dreams of being a lawyer one day. He's loves Government class at his school with Mr. Mount, and he enjoys playing golf with his father.
Theo knows every judge, policeman, court clerk—and a lot about the law. He dreams of being a great trial lawyer, of a life in the courtroom.
Theo knows every judge, policeman, court clerk—and a lot about the law. He dreams of being a great trial lawyer, of a life in the courtroom. But Theo finds himself in court much sooner than expected. Because he knows so much—maybe too much—he is suddenly dragged into the middle of a sensational murder trial.
Unfortunately, the caper in this novel was… not a good one. Theo’s mid-size town is experiencing its first murder trial in recent memory, and though everyone thinks the accused is guilty of murdering his wife, the prosecution has a thin case based only on circumstantial evidence (oh yes, no worries, Theo defines that for us). Mid-story, Theo becomes privy to evidence that’s sure to sway the verdict, and he has to figure out what to do.
Well, the title is a little misleading, wonderkid Theodore Boone is not a licensed lawyer. Both of his parents are however legit and successful attorneys-at-law. TB loves the law and will one day be a damn good lawyer, he is 13 years old and an eighth grade student in this series.
An endearingly popular writer, he brings his knowledge of the court system and criminal procedure to his books. In most ways, Theodore Boone is a typical thirteen-year-old boy.
It’s not fair that he should get away with it. Theodore asks his uncle Ike for help. Ike tells him that they must go to Theodore’s parents with the information, and to not let Bobby come forward yet. The Boones are happy that Theodore comes to them with this, and they arrange to speak with the judge.
He learns about immigration law and what defenses Bobby might have to any legal challenges. In the meantime, Theodore is growing frustrated with the defense lawyer and his antics—Mr. Duffy is guilty, after all. It’s not fair that he should get away with it. Theodore asks his uncle Ike for help.
Theodore knows that if he tells his parents, they’ll insist that Bobby makes a testimony. This means Bobby must face immigration officials. However, if Theodore doesn’t tell anyone, then he’s concealing evidence from the court.
The Boones are very charitable, and they donate a lot of free time to helping the homeless and making donations. Theodore has grown up always wanting justice for those who need it. In the early chapters, Theodore spends a lot of time discussing legal procedure with his friends.
However, if Theodore doesn’t tell anyone, then he’s concealing evidence from the court. With all his legal knowledge, Theodore knows this is potentially a very serious offense. Theodore figures that his best plan is to convince Bobby to come forward with the evidence himself. This will not be an easy task.
Theodore starts following the trial; he can’t wait to see the lawyers in action. He’ll build his own mock file based on the evidence from both sides and think about how he would approach the case if it were his own . He’s down at the courthouse as often as he can be to watch proceedings—before long, Theodore is drawn into the case itself.
Kid Lawyer by John Grisham has been reviewed by Focus on the Family’s marriage and parenting magazine. It is the first book in the “Theodore Boone” series.
His uncle used to be a lawyer, but he was disbarred for unethical behavior. Uncle Ike tells Theodore that the judicial system doesn’t always come out right. He suggests that Theodore forget what he knows about the Duffy trial. Uncle Ike gets Theodore out of class by lying that Theodore has to go to a funeral.
The prosecution says that Pete Duffy has been planning his wife’s murder for two years. He and his wife have had fights and have talked to divorce lawyers. Forty-six-year-old Myra Duffy was strangled as she was leaving her house to have lunch with her sister. Her carotid artery was pressed firmly from behind for 10 seconds, which made her pass out. Then it was held firmer for 60 seconds, which killed her. Her lack of struggle showed she knew the person. Her death is described as a cold-blooded murder.
Alcohol: Uncle Ike drinks too much alcohol. He offers Theodore a Budweiser. When Theodore says he wants one, his uncle hands him a Sprite.
Book reviews cover the content, themes and worldviews of fiction books, not their literary merit, and equip parents to decide whether a book is appropriate for their children. The inclusion of a book’s review does not constitute an endorsement by Focus on the Family.
Omar Cheepe used to be a federal agent but now works surveillance for hire on Pete Duffy’s side. Omar’s eyes dart in a way that makes Theodore think he wants to shoot someone.
Condescension: Theodore is portrayed as a very intelligent middle-school student. Throughout the book Theodore thinks that some of the questions that kids and adults ask him are ridiculous. He doesn’t say his thoughts out loud; he keeps his condescending opinions to himself, but shares them with the reader.
