To secure the essential skills and experiences, Brazilian lawyers have relied more on continuing legal education, study abroad, and training in law firms and GC offices than on formal legal education. The rise of the “new developmental state” has created new challenges for corporate lawyers.
Such a demand would profoundly reshape the legal profession in Brazil as it inevitably led, notably from the 1990s onwards, to the transformation of Brazilian law firms and to competition among them.
