If accepted, an individualized assistance plan ( IAP) is developed for the lawyer to address the particular issues of concern and a peer assistance mentor is assigned. The lawyer must commit to all IAP requirements.
VITA is a partnership between the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) and other organizations to provide and promote free income tax return preparation for low to moderate-income taxpayers who cannot prepare their own returns.
Legal Services of North Dakota (LSND) operates VITA sites on the Turtle Mountain and Spirit Lake Indian reservations to assist low-income clients with their tax returns. LSND has been an IRS VITA partner since 1993 and each of our sites offer free electronic-filing (e-filing).
All volunteers who prepare returns are certified by and receive their training directly from the IRS.

Asset Limits. There is no asset limit for children, families, or pregnant women in the Children and Families coverage group, the Adult Expansion Group (individuals between the ages of 19 and 65), or the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection group.
Depending on the amount of net income, individuals may be eligible for full Medicaid benefits or may be responsible for a portion of their medical bills which is called Client Share (Recipient Liability).
