The company itself offered programs and such to encourage advancement and education. However, in my experience, my managers stood in the way of progress.
The people Iat McGraw-Hill I worked with were a loyal bunch, and they were team players, they were fun to work.with, I also learned a lot from working with them.
Great benefits help make up for meh compensation. Typically, if you are a hard worker, you will get worked to death. Instead of training other associates with years of experience to be do certain tasks, I was required to learn them. Then I was worked OT through busy season constantly. No chance for advancement.
I worked at MH Education for almost 5 years. I enjoyed the work environment and most of my colleagues were excellent to collaborate with and learn from. I would have remained with the company, but I eventually left to support my wife's career in another state.
McGraw Hill does offer work/life balance and competitive benefits. However, the mission of the company tends to change every year. As the publishing industry morphs, McGraw Hill moves sporadically from one "company goal" to the next.
Overall I had a good experience there, and had many great years. Members of management were not always trustworthy and had their favorites. Liked the work though, and my peers and other members of the staff were awesome.
No support from management. Lots of micromanaging. low pay & raisesIn the team I worked in, people are self-centered, so no feeling of working as a team. No much team-building activities. Hard work didn't get recognized. Office politics does exist.
