 · O.J. Simpson's famous legal "dream team" cost him approximately $50,000 for every day of his murder trial. How exactly was he able to afford it while he was imprisoned?
The $ 5 million estimate was confirmed during the Simpson civil trial three years late.
By generating memorabilia during his trial, Simpson was able to afford his 'Dream Team' of legal counsel, who the docs estimate would have cost him $50,000 per day throughout the case.
It was estimated that Simpson was worth approximately $10.8 million when he and Nicole Brown Simpson divorced in 1992. That would equate to about $19 million as of May 2017.
OJ Simpson reportedly receives money from pensions through the Screen Actors Guild and the NFL. Simpson receives an estimated $25,000 monthly payout from the NFL pension.

It was a long time ago - Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman have been dead for nearly 25 years. That’s a long time and a number of things have happened in the interim. People don’t spend every waking moment thinking about things that they did in the past (even bad things) as it would quickly drive them insane.
Most importantly, it was left completely up to OJ himself to demonstrate whether the gloves fit or not. If he was able to get the gloves on, he might spend the rest of his life in prison. He needed them to not fit, so the attempt to get the gloves to fit on his hands was laughably weak.
Instead, in essence, OJ Simpson signed his name to a book that somebody else was paid to write for him. Second, anyone who has read the book can attest, it has very, very little information. Some people wanted to claim that it was some sort of crazy confession.
The truly sad thing though is he did get away with the murder of his wife, the mother of his children Nicole Brown Simpson and an innocent who had only been at the residence to return an item she had left at the restaurant he worked at the previous night.
wrote, after a judge ordered it. His legal bills for that trial totaled approximately 10 million dollars. However, he has stiffed his attorneys, and paid them only a small fraction of that.
First, it was ghost-written. OJ Simpson, for all his talents that he did have, was not an accomplished writer. Ghost-writing is a popular method for celebrities to “write” books to capitalize on their fame and notoriety, without actually having to be capable of writing a book themselves.
Then, OJ was basically drained financially by the first trial. In fact, some lawyers (such as Alan Dershowitz) have said they still haven't been paid what they are owed, all these years later.
And that merchandise became more and more valuable. In total, it is believed that OJ was able to generate an astonishing $3 million by signing memorabilia… from JAIL!
And keep in mind that the trial lasted 135 days, not including pre-trial, preparation and more. Obviously O.J. wasn't poor back in 1994. Two years before his arrest, as part of his divorce proceeding with Nicole O.J. reported his net worth to be $10 million.
Petrocelli agrees. “The Goldmans want to obtain Simpson’s assets because they don’t want him to live a good life. He killed their son. He murdered their son.”
Kim Goldman soon learned that winning the multimillion-dollar award was one thing, collecting it was another. “People assume that when we were awarded our civil judgment, that with that judgment we were handed a pot of gold, and that’s just the furthest thing from the truth,” she said.
Top criminal defense lawyers command from $250 to $400 an hour , although most legal experts believe Simpson probably has signed a flat-fee agreement, with a lump sum to be paid for the preliminary hearing and another for the trial, which a judge ordered Friday. In any case, experts speculated, the legal bill is already well into five figures, probably six.
If, however, Shapiro and Uelmen were each charging “only” $300 per hour and working “only” 14-hour days during the just-ended preliminary hearing, that figures out to $8,400 per day for just those two attorneys, Los Angeles defense lawyer Harland Braun said.
Such flat-fee arrangements can be lucrative for the lawyer. Advertisement. In the Menendez case, Abramson made $650,000 in fees for the first trial, according to court records. Now that the Menendez estate has virtually evaporated, taxpayers are paying Abramson’s fee for the second trial, about $125,000 per year.
Then there are the experts. It costs $550 to do DNA typing at Cellmark Diagnostics of Germantown, Md., the nation’s largest private DNA testing laboratory. A molecular biologist to explain the test results for jurors costs $1,200 per day if the biologist has a Ph.D., $1,100 per day with no doctorate, according to Mark Stolorow, Cellmark’s director of operations.
In recent days, family members have expressed concern about the financial future of Sydney Simpson, 8, and Justin Simpson, 5, with their mother dead and their father in jail.
Tacked on to the fees, meanwhile, are the costs of the case--the mounting charges for paralegals, investigators and the like.
Los Angeles lawyer Bradley Brunon, who has tried nearly three dozen murder cases, said: “If the client has an unlimited budget, the legal fees can approximate that. Remember that old saw about the football coach, George Allen, being given an unlimited budget and exceeding it? That may prove true in a case such as this.
OJ got broke because he no longer had any means to make revenue to get cash flowing in, he had troubles with IRS and he lost the civil trial so he now owed the Browns and the Goldmans a astronomical amount in compensation.
OJ and Nicole had a drug-fueled sexual relationship, that was also fueled by psychological problems that they both had.
was set up by the LAPD because of his success and fame. All of the evidence presented, especially the DNA evidence, was presented as planted by the police in order to frame O.J. The defense team capitalized on multiple mistakes made by investigators and prosecutors in an effort to show that the evidence against O.J. was manufactured or planted.
His lawyers in the civil trial were especially upset because OJ was not honest with them or with the court.
Strands of hair consistent with O.J.’s were found on Goldman’s shirt.
Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were found murdered in the early hours of June 13th at Nicole Simpson’s residence in Brentwood.
OJ have plenty of money, not only his pension from the NFL. But royalties from movie’s like the Naked Gun series. He had money from all his commercial and royalties from them. He not broke and the Goldman’s can’t get paid because they can’t take his pension. Also imagine he got money from home that the murders took place in, because he own the home where Nicole and the kids was staying. So he not broke
