Meanwhile, on May 13 Netflix launches a new series, The Lincoln Lawyer, based on Connelly’s books about defense attorney Mickey Haller, who uses his car as an office. AARP caught up with Connelly to get the inside scoop on the move to TV, how he discovered the crime beat, and why his next project could be a scary movie.

Bosch lived in a house on stilts at 7203 Woodrow Wilson Drive in the Hollywood Hills. The money that financed Bosch's upscale home came from his work as a technical advisor for a TV mini-series, in which actor Dan Lacey portrays Bosch in a serial killer case the detective had worked.
So, after revisiting the criminal defense attorney for the first new Lincoln Lawyer book in seven years, Connelly is now helping bring him to the small screen for the new Netflix drama series The Lincoln Lawyer, on which he serves as executive producer.
“Since we have competing studios, that's not going to be a thing in the shows. I understand,” Connelly said in an interview with AARP. “But if we got Amazon and Netflix working together, we could also solve world peace.” Harry Bosch actor Titus Welliver confirmed that there wouldn't be a crossover.

A spinoff of Prime Video's seven-season adaptation of Michael Connelly's Bosch novels, Bosch: Legacy again stars Titus Welliver as the former LAPD detective, who a year-and-a-half after the events of the previous series' finale is finding work here and there as a private detective.
We finally have a title and some cover art to share for Michael's 2022 novel. Desert Star is coming out on November 8 in the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
Mickey Haller doesn't appear in Amazon's Bosch or its spinoff series, Bosch: Legacy, but the role of Bosch in the narrative of The Lincoln Lawyer as it adapts Michael Connelly's The Brass Verdict has been replaced with other characters in the series.

The actor to play the main character in the best-selling Michael Connelly book series was never supposed to be Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. That honor reportedly went to Logan Marshall-Green (24, The O.C.). But networks do what networks do. In this case, axing the series because of production issues stemming from the pandemic.
Michael Connelly was a cops reporter for about a dozen years, most notably with the Los Angeles Times. He has sold 43 million of his 23 crime-based novels around the world since hanging up his press card nearly 20 years ago. Still, he has found some journalistic habits hard to break, such as researching the background of his thrillers.
He and partner Roger Mills had lots of stories to tell. The trio often would meet at a bar in Tampa called Four Green Fields, an Irish pub and a popular watering hole for prosecutors and defense attorneys, and they’d tell Connelly about the gritty way criminal law really worked.
As the story developed on the page, Connelly based a good bit of Haller on Ogden’s style of work, but it wasn’t a character portrait. Haller is twice divorced ( one of his exes is a prosecutor), a little bit too slick for his own good. His investigator is killed, and thugs threaten to kidnap his young daughter.
However, on May 2, 2020 it was announced that the pilot would not be moving forward. Netflix subsequently picked up the series and ordered a 10-episode series of The Lincoln Lawyer, with Kelley, on January 11, 2021.

While most clients are drug dealers and gangsters, the story focuses on an unusually important case of wealthy Los Angeles realtor Louis Roulet, accused of assault and attempted murder. At first, he appears to be innocent and set up by the female "victim".

Kelley had developed and written a television series based on the Haller series with a commitment from CBS. Episodes had been order for 2020. However, on May 2, 2020 it was announced that the pilot would not be moving forward.
He’s been nicknamed the Lincoln Lawyer due to his penchant for dealing out of the back of his Lincoln town car. These books exist in the same world as Connelly’s popular Harry Bosch series. Not only so, but Bosch happens to be Mickey’s half-brother and makes appearances in the Mickey Haller books (and vice versa).

At the beginning of The Brass Verdict, Mickey Haller has inherited his late fellow defense attorney Jerry Vincent’ s practice. Haller’s main concern is a high profile case involving a Hollywood producer who allegedly murdered his wife and the person she was supposedly having an affair with.

Accustomed to representing criminals, Mick makes his money by defending the guilty and helping them reach agreeable plea bargains with the prosecution. Mick is surprised to find himself requested personally by a very wealthy client, Louis Roulet, who has been charged with attempted rape.
They realize that Roulet chose Mick as his attorney to protect himself : Anything Mick knows about Roulet is protected by attorney-client privilege. Even when Roulet admits to being guilty of both the crime that he is accused of, as well as the murder of Martha Renteria, Mick cannot give this confession to the police.
Levin leaves a voicemail for Mick confirming that he has found the crucial evidence to pin the murder on Roulet and get Jesus out of prison. Moments later, Levin is murdered. Mick’s gun is missing from his home, which matches the gun used to shoot Levin.
There is evidence to suggest that Roulet is telling the truth, but the investigator, Raul Levin, uncovers some cracks in Roulet’s story: Roulet was in fact aware that Reggie Campo is a sex worker, and he carried a knife with him (the murder weapon) to her apartment.
Mick needs multiple surgeries for the gunshot wound, and the fact that Jesus served so much time in prison for a crime he didn’t commit is something that haunts Mick for the rest of his life.
