When custody was first established several years ago, father and I shared legal custody (50% each), I had 100% physical custody. Lawyers here would have been $200-$250 an hour. We are extremely organized and civil, more so than our mediator had ever seen, so probably not typical. A friend whose been separated four months longer than me has paid $8,000 to lawyer and doesnβt even have a completed parental agreement yet. Try a mediator first if you can!
She was just concerned with power at work and "bettering" herself. It sounds like full custody of your 2yr old is a good thing and you can manage building up the mom's relationship from there. I hope that doesn't imply you don't get 50/50 custody of the 8yr old. That child probably doesn't need to be pulled away from another father. Good luck ...
