In the early 2010s, McConaughey became better known for his dramatic roles. This reinvention was cited in the media as the "McConaissance" and started when he played Mickey Haller in the adaptation of the Michael Connelly novel of the same name The Lincoln Lawyer, and reunited with Linklater on the black comedy Bernie (both 2011).
McConaughey spent nine hours in jail before being released, per the New York Post. He told The Washington Post afterward , "I don't want to rent a place there, but it was a nice stay for a night." Luckily, Matthew McConaughey can comfortably tell the tale today.

While there are a lot of great Netflix shows and movies that are based on true stories, The Lincoln Lawyer is not one of those series as the show is not based on a real story. However, the show does happen to be based on a best-selling novel by author Michael Connelly!

After breaking out as the ultimate bro of all-time in Dazed and Confused as David Wooderson, and then becoming typecast as the lead in romantic comedies, McConaughey has become an A-list dramatic star with an Academy Award for Best Actor on his mantle.
He Did Many Of His Own Stunts In 'Sahara' Matthew McConaughey did many of his own stunts in the film, and would have done more had producers (and insurance companies) allowed him. According to director Breck Eisner, "[He] would have done every stunt in the movie if the insurance company had let him."
McConaughey, 51, made the phrase âall right, all right, all rightâ famous when he starred as David Wooderson in the 1993 film Dazed and Confused. Since then, the Oscar winner has used the fan favorite line during acceptance speeches at major awards shows and in interviews here and there.
Check Out More Great Stories. Alas, we can't quite help with that: Mickey Haller is indeed a fictional character, created by author Michael Connelly in the popular novels that inspired the Netflix series.
In The Lincoln Lawyer books, Connelly introduces us to the enigmatic and cynical criminal defense attorney Michael Haller (but you can call him Mickey). He's been nicknamed the Lincoln Lawyer due to his penchant for dealing out of the back of his Lincoln town car.
The show is a masterful work which delivered well on almost every aspect. While there is still room for improvement, the series is enough to topple down those at the top of the charts in just a week. If it gets another season, there's enough material for it. The Lincoln Lawyer is now streaming on Netflix.

3. No Summary About This One: Thirteen Conversations About One Thing (2001). Hereâs the IMDb description:

Rog definitely could have used some Magic Mike guidance on his moves.

And so we reach the end. Bernie is, to date, the last movie in which McConaughey plays an attorney. But itâs good!
Last week we reviewed the first three appearances of Matthew McConaughey , Attorney at Lawesome. In the second of this two-part series, letâs look at the most recent, and, dare I say (dare! dare!), most good movies in which MM plays a lawyer.
Given McConaughey-as-attorneyâs predilection for freeing The Black Man ( Time to Kill, Amistad ), itâs a little strange that he doesnât do that in a movie with â Lincolnâ in the title. Yes, it refers to the car that his character uses as the worldâs coolest office.

Production Note. The unjustly convicted client is named Jesus. Subtlety can go f*ck itself, I guess.
Epilogue. The greatest tragedy of our times is that McConaughey was not cast in the greatest legal drama of our times (warning: before you claim that this searing masterpiece [starts at the :31 mark] is wildly offensive, please note that it is wildly offensive):
Summary: In 1841, attorney Roger Sherman Baldwin argues before the Supreme Court on behalf of Africans captured by the U.S. military after they revolted and took control of the slave ship Amistad.
Legal ease. In closing arguments, Brigance asks the jurors to close their eyes as he tells them a emotionally compelling story that wins the case.

From George Clooney to Bruno Mars, more good-natured A-listers have had run-ins with the law than you'd think. And Matthew McConaughey, who didn't always have it easy, is among them. While you may have briefly heard about the star's admittedly wacky bongo-related arrest from years back, he filled fans in on more details in his 2020 memoir Greenlights . Now we're getting a full (mooned) picture of the story, and it's as outlandish as it sounds. Scroll down to find out more about Matthew McConaughey 's arrest.
Sure, they took nearly six years to get hitched, and had two kids before he'd even proposed, but it just goes to show that long-term love doesn't have a script it needs to follow. And while their road has been unusual, their story, like so many Hollywood "romances" that barely last until sunrise, begins in a club on the Sunset Strip...
Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves' wedding was three days long. By celebrity wedding standards, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves' wedding wasn't an overblown affair. Aside from being on the cover of People, of course.
They nicknamed their father "Captain Fun," because he pretty much said yes to everything, bringing a little bit of the freewheeling Kenny Wells character home with him every night.
The proposal was nothing spectacular, aside from the fact that McConaughey announced it on his WhoSay page, a platform you'd likely forgotten about since you read about McConaughey's engagement the first time, in 2011. The proposal took place on Christmas Day, as the actor simply posted, "Just asked Camila to marry me, Merry Christmas." Maybe not so merry for hopeful fans around the world who thought they might still have a chance. But, presumably, merry for the couple.
Other than that, it was your standard Texas home wedding with 120 guests, stretched over three days of what People described as "summer fun" in June of 2012. The ceremony took place on McConaughey's sprawling Austin estate, where he'd set up tents for guests to escape the Texas heat.
In addition to Levi and Vida McConaughey, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves added a third child to their family after they were married in 2012. In December of that year, they welcomed their son, Livingston McConaughey, again announcing it on Who Say (who at that point probably should have just re-named the platform McConaughey Say). If you've ever heard the actor shout out to Mr. Stone during an acceptance speech, according to Yahoo!, this is who he's talking about: it's the nickname McConaughey uses for Livingston.
Not exactly poetry, but it did inspire McConaughey to get up and invite Alves's group to have drinks with him. She, however, remembers it differently. "I did not know who he was," she told Access (via People ). "At the time he had a really long beard, and he had this rasta hat.
In the early 1990s, McConaughey began working in television commercials.
In 1992, he was cast as the boyfriend "Walkaway Joe'', a music video for Trisha Yearwood's collaboration with Don Henley. Also that year, he acted in an episode of Unsolved Mysteries.
