In my hometown which grew up significantly in the last 40 years, there are still a few 3 digits badge numbers while most are 4 digits. 5 digits system is not uncommon in large cities. Also some PDâs reuse former numbers from retired/reassigned officers while others issue a brand new numbers to every addition to the PD.
