An active Twitter account is a positive thing. 500 tweets in 1 day is not. Try to monitor your TPH (tweets per hour) and keep it reasonable. If you are tweeting from an event and sharing real time news updates then sure, tweet it up.

I believe that Twitter is “whitespace” for lawyers.

Like any form of social media, it is very, very important for you to be smart and highly thoughtful when using Twitter, especially as you post content, retweet content, or like content. Always think twice before posting, retweeting, and liking any content and assume that whatever you do on Twitter can find its way onto the front page of The Wall Street Journal and can come to the attention of your clients or your General Counsel/Chief Legal Officer. You will be considered as an ambassador for your employer/organization so please keep that in mind when using Twitter.

You can also find what may be the most relevant information with a hashtag (#) search. Just because you have a Twitter account doesn’t obligate you to post. PC Magazine reports 44 percent of Twitter account holders have never tweeted.
Some Twitterers have conversations on Twitter, but businesses use it to broadcast. Twitter’s claim to fame is the 140-character limit, of course. But you can include a link to other information you or anyone else has posted on the Internet.
