Court appointed attorney programs are usually administered by a local bar association, the public defender's office or the court. Contact the office that runs the program and request the application form or forms.
The applicant may be admitted (a) in open court; (b) in absentia if the Georgia attorney is residing outside of the state; or (c) by appointment in chambers upon the request to the Clerk by a Justice. Admission in Open Court. Admission In Absentia. Admission In-Chambers.
Ask the court clerk for forms you need to file a motion requesting a new attorney. Or you can simply ask the judge at your next court appearance. Judges are unlikely to grant such requests when the trial date is near since a new attorney will have to request an extension of the trial date in order to get caught up.
Call the court appointment office to inquire about any further instructions. In some cases, such as larger courts, you may have to write a letter to each judge in whose court you would like to appear to request to be placed on their individual lists. This must be done even after you have been certified to be a court appointed attorney.
