Nevertheless, only a very few of the actors stayed on CSI from beginning to end. Here are the various reasons why each major cast member left. From the very beginning, William Petersen was one of the main characters at the forefront of CSI.
Actor Jonathan Togo joined the cast of CSI: Miami in the show's third season as Ryan Wolfe. Wolfe is one in a long line of cop show characters who use their (very much unrealistically depicted) OCD to their advantage: Wolfe's attention to detail and abilities in the lab border on superhuman.
Riley Adams is the Las Vegas crime lab's replacement for Warrick Brown. She first appears in the season nine episode Art Imitates Life. Her final appearance was in the season nine finale of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation . Riley pursued a career in law enforcement as a way to rebel against her parents, who were both psychologists.

The scene is very unclear, but William Petersen has said that his character did not sleep with Lady Heather, and Executive Producer Carol Mendelsohn and actress Marg Helgenberger have alluded to it, the latter dubbing their morning tea as "Grissom's version of the post-coital cigarette."
Jorja Fox's Sara Sidle left CSI's main cast in season 8, only to return in season 11 until the show's end.

Ian Wallace's corpse was dragged under a car into the desert and abandoned, but has marks from multiple abuse before his death.
The title is a reference to Linkin Park's song, "Leave Out All The Rest".
They theorize that Martin helped Michelle kill Ian and tried to frame Justine, adding that Martin tied Ian's body under the car and followed Michelle out into the desert. Things went awry, which led to Martin killing Justine and setting her car on fire.
Justine's phone records are run and they show that the last call she received was from a Martin Devlin, an insurance salesman. He tells Brass that he had called Justine not long before she was killed and says that he had never been to her house. Meanwhile, Grissom discusses the case further with Lady Heather.
Wendy also finds high-velocity blood spatter on the back of Ian's shirt, indicating that someone (possibly the killer) spit blood on to Ian's back. Meanwhile, having seen photos of their house, Lady Heather figures that Justine is not a dominant and wouldn't have killed Ian even if she caught him cheating on her.
Henry informs Catherine that Ian had low levels of THC and alcohol in his system. Meanwhile, Grissom watches a video from Sara; she's on a research boat south of the Equator and is happy for the first time in a long time. Back in Ian's house, Nick notices that Ian's car is in the garage, but the other spot is empty.
Riley finds evidence of blood on a living room chair, while Nick finds evidence of a bloody fistfight in the hallway, as there's a blood drop with an air bubble in it down by the baseboard of the wall. Henry informs Catherine that Ian had low levels of THC and alcohol in his system.
Back in Ian's house, Nick notices that Ian's car is in the garage, but the other spot is empty. He also found some fresh oil stains and rope burns, indicating that Ian was tied up in his own garage . The back door to the house is also unlocked.
When he arrives, he finds the victim covered in a tarp, which has contaminated the evidence. Catherine tells him that first responder is responsible for doing so. The victim is male with no forms of identification on him. His face has been reduced to a pulp and is full of asphalt.
There's no doubt that Laurence Fishburne was one of the biggest names to join the cast of CSI. The acclaimed actor of the stage and screen joined the show in season nine as Raymond Langston, and he served as a main character on the show until season eleven. It was ultimately Fishbur ne who made the decision to leave the program. He wanted to continue working on both the stage and the silver screen, and he left the world of TV behind.
In the role of Sofia Curtis, Louise Lombard was first introduced to the world of CSI in Season 5. From there, the actress had an inconsistent record on the show. Specifically, she was a recurring character until Season 7, when she became a series regular. But it only lasted for one season. It was shortly thereafter that she served for a season as a recurring character before leaving the series after Season 8, only to make an appearance in Season 11. Nevertheless, Season 11 was the final time viewers saw Louise Lombard on the show. As for the reasons for his stark exits and returns, it might have to do with the star having children. Nevertheless, Lombard mentioned in an interview that she returned after being asked by a producer.
Gil Grissom, he stayed on the show for nine seasons between 2000 and 2010, but the actor decided to leave the program at the start of the decade. Petersen opted to leave CSI in order to pursue more stage acting opportunities. While the actor enjoyed the experience, he felt fortunate for the chance to pursue other projects. In the time that Petersen exited the show, he has stayed on-board as an executive producer and made a return in a 2011 episode, plus the series finale.
It took a good while for David Berman's David Phillips to get the main cast treatment. He was a recurring character from season one until season nine, but the commitment to the popular show paid off. He became a main player during season 10; that is what he ended up being until CSI 's series finale.
Liz Vassey. Similarly, Liz Vassey only had one season where she was a series regular on CSI. In the role of Wendy Simms, Vassey was first introduced in Season 6 and she was a recurring character until Season 10 when she was promoted into being a series regular for one season.
The popular series had 15 seasons on CBS, spawned several spin-off series, and played a major part in fueling our society's only growing fascination with true and fictional crime stories.
Specifically, Paul Guilfoyle returned to reprise his famous role in "Immortality.". After CSI came to a close in 2015, Paul Guilfoyle still stayed connected to CBS. The TV actor currently plays a role in CBS' All Access' The Good Fight.
Paul Archuleta/Getty Images. An FBI informant turned member of the team, Natalia Boa Vista was played by actress Eva LaRue. It's revealed that she has been working against our heroes in the show's fourth season, collecting evidence to bring down Horatio Caine.
LaRue has had a few solid roles since CSI: Miami came to a close. She appeared on a few episodes of the children's series Mack & Moxy as Admirable Eva, had a guest spot as Teri on Fuller House, and returned to the world of soap operas as Celeste Rosales on The Young and the Restless.

Along with David Caruso, Rory Cochrane was one of CSI: Miami's big "gets" when the show first premiered, bringing some serious name recognition to the spin-off. Cochrane had enjoyed a successful run of movies prior to appearing on the series, including roles in Gen X classics Dazed and Confused and Empire Records. His character, Tim Speedle, is killed early on in the show's third season. Cochrane has arguably found the most success as an actor of any CSI: Miami regular in the years since he left the series.
Steven Bochco, the showrunner for NYPD Blue, called Caruso's behavior "cancerous" and said of the actor, "Most people don't function well in a dysfunctional environment, but Caruso loved it because he was the source of all the discontent, and it empowered him.".
Alexander has had quite a bit of success to hang her hat on since CSI: Miami closed up shop. She starred on the HBO series Treme, which overlapped with the last few years of CSI: Miami, and also received some critical love for her turn as Viola, Bessie Smith's sister, in the HBO movie Bessie.
Season 8 ended on a major cliffhanger for the character, with Warrick being shot and left for dead in an alleyway. For context, in season 8 of CSI Warrick was framed for two murders, which included a mob boss, but he's later acquitted.
Here's why Gary Dourdan's fan-favorite Warrick Brown exited CSI: Crime Scene Investigation during season 9. Crime procedural CSI: Crime Scene Investigation debuted on CBS in 2000 and follows the titular team of investigators who used science to solve murders or other crimes.
It was also the final season for Gary Dourdan as Warrick Brown, who had been with the series since season 1.
There were reports that Gary Dourdan's 2008 arrest on drug possession charges played a part in Warrick Brown's exit too, which isn't the case, as it was announced he was leaving prior to this arrest.

It also prompts Catherine to start questioning her own leadership abilities. She was replaced by returning CSI Sara Sidle .
Riley Adams is the Las Vegas crime lab's replacement for Warrick Brown. She first appears in the season nine episode Art Imitates Life. Her final appearance was in the season nine finale of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation .
She carries on working with the CSI team working on cases and making friends with them, particularly (most likely due to their age and flirty natures) Greg Sanders , however Riley and Catherine did not usually see eye to eye with each other , which caused friction with each other.
Furthermore, while Jonathan Togo's CSI Detective Ryan Wolfe, Rex Linn's Sergeant Detective Frank Tripp, and Eva LaRue's CSI Detective Natalia Boa Vista weren't introduced until later seasons of the show as series regulars, they stayed on the show until its series finale as well.
Sofia Milos (Detective Yelina Salas) After making guest star appearances throughout the latter half of season one and the majority of season two, Sofia Milos was promoted to series regular in CSI: Miami 's third season in the role of Detective Yelina Salas.
