The Chapter book cover was a girl with a Pegasus next to a tree. About a girl whose parents were thought to be killed after being missing for years or months. She lived with a kinda mean relative, I believe it was her Aunt, where she has to sleep in a small space room which has a tree outside her window.
The girl spends a summer or a year with her aunt and, after struggling to adjust to her solitude and order, learns all about a disciplined life -- being neat and tidy at home, in dress, in your thinking and actions.
