New technology is making it much easier to keep volunteers “in the loop.” Social media, texting, and volunteer management systems are important tools for nonprofits to consider these days. In Georgia, a charitable institution is not liable for its officers’ or employees’ negligence unless the organization fails to exercise ordinary care in hiring or retaining competent officers and employees or the plaintiff is a paying recipient of services from the organization.
