Episode 9 confirms the theory that there are alternate universes intersecting in the town of Castle Rock. It starts with The Kid, not cracked by his years of being kept in a cage by Warden Lacey (Terry O'Quinn), but living a normal life as a doctor and Alzheimer's Disease researcher.
Matthew takes him in, but the voice of God tells him that this child is the Devil, so he, like Warden Lacy in the other universe, locks him up in a cage where he sits for years and years, refusing to age. The boy and Skarsgård's Henry end up in the forest, where the portal to another universe is located.Oct 23, 2019
The Kid was kept in a hidden cell in Shawshank. Lacy committed suicide on his last day as warden and The Kid was found by prison guard Dennis Zalewski. He appeared timid and did not speak when questioned about his identity, but merely uttered the name Henry Deaver, as Lacy previously instructed him to do.
Henry Matthew Deaver was adopted by Ruth and Matthew Deaver. As a child in 1991, Henry went missing for eleven days. His neighbor, Molly Strand, watched on the night he disappeared as he got into a car with Reverend Deaver. The entire town of Castle Rock, Maine tried to find him.Feb 19, 2019
Though both seasons take place within the Stephen King universe (and in the same town), any connections between Castle Rock Seasons 1 and 2 are minor. There are two Henry Deavers (Henrys Deaver?), each from his own timeline and universe, and they have a lot more history than anyone realized. Castle Rock is supposed to bring new independent stories, but with some big connections to the Stephen King Universe. So it makes sense. Molly’s dealer is named Dean Merrill, not a canon member of the large Merrill family, but its members tend to leave a mark.
We’ve seen C.O. Zalewski alone in that room with the wall o’ TVs enough times to bank on them becoming a canvas for something truly terrible. And he’s handsome, planning a better future, expecting a baby, and chatting up Mr. Mute, so…good luck getting through this one, buddy. Every King creep loves to collect/consume/convert a child.
In 1991, a young Molly Strand crosses from her house, and crosses the road to Henry Deaver 's house. Henry is missing, and his father has been found, half-frozen and with a broken back. He lays on bed hooked up to a life support machine. Molly disconnects the breathing tube and watches as he dies.
