When a lawyer is deactivated, and is the 'Responsible' or 'Assigned' lawyer, then any matters assigned to the lawyer must be reassigned. Start PCLaw. Select Options > Lists > Lawyers and Rates on the main menu bar. The Lawyers and Rates screen displays. Select the lawyer to be deactivated (removed) from the list of lawyers. Click the Remove button.
A deactivated timekeeper/ lawyer cannot be a 'Responsible' or 'Working' lawyer for any matter. Inactive lawyers can be the 'Introducing' lawyer if the information is entered prior to the lawyer being removed. Inactive lawyers can have unbilled time or expense recoveries. These charges apply to the 'Original' lawyer and when payment is received.
